ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) can make it difficult to find the right job. There are great jobs for people with this disorder. There are other jobs that completely off target for those with ADHD. You can work through the problems that you have trying to work with ADHD. The real problem is that ADHD people are hyper and need to keep very busy and the routine needs to change frequently to keep you happy.
Here are some of the worst jobs for people with ADHD:
Data entry requires a person to sit at a desk all day long entering words and/or numbers. That can get quite monotonous, especially for someone who has Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. This is the one worst job that you could possibly have. As a person with ADHD, you will get far too bored, far too fast. You might be able to force your way through it for a while, but it won’t take too long before you are too bored with it to do it well. Your mind will wander off and you will wish that you were doing anything but what you are doing.
Assembly work, such as in a car factory, is very monotonous. You do the exact same thing all day long. This is close to the worst possible job you could have as a person with ADHD. The only thing that makes data entry worse is that assembly work is much more physical. That, at least, helps keep your body on the move which is something that you can’t say about data entry. You can make good money on an assembly line, but you will probably learn to hate it within hours of starting the job.
Any kind of office work will usually not work out well for those who have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Although there are a lot of different things that are involved in office jobs, each job is usually very monotonous. The worst is filing. You will enjoy your office job for a while as you learn it, but as soon as you learn it, you will be ready to move to something completely different. This isn’t the absolutely worst job you could have as an ADHD person, but it comes close to it.
A receptionist sits at the front desk all day answering phones and dealing with the public. He/she cannot leave the area at all unless he/she is relieved by someone else. This is one of the worst thing that you could choose if you are an ADHD person. There is nothing worse for an attention deficit disorder person to be stuck in one place all day. It goes against everything in them. Stay away from this type of job if you are an ADHD person.
These are the worst jobs that you can get if you are an ADHD person. Don’t let yourself be fooled into thinking that a desk job will ever be enough for you. You need to move around a lot. You need a job that will change on a constant basis. You will not find this in the above jobs. Choosing the right job makes all the difference in how successful you will be in your career.
