The World Cup schedule 2010 almost ended for America. Yet, the World Cup schedule 2010 has America in the World Cup knockout round, scheduled to start Saturday. If Landon Donovan had not scored in stoppage time yesterday, the USA would be gone, England would win Group C, and Slovenia would be moving on to the second round. Instead, not only did Donovan save the Americans, he changed the entire direction of the bracket. Now, the World Cup schedule 2010 offers a golden chance for the USA, while several superpowers are set to face off.
It was do-or-die for the USA against Algeria, as they were moments away from dying. Yet, not only did they stay alive, thanks to Donovan, they mighthave a favorable draw in the knockout round. At least they have a more favorable World Cup schedule 2010 right now than England.
Not only did the USA’s last second win eliminate Slovenia, it might have been killer for England. At long last, the English played to expectations and defeated Slovenia to survive. However, if the USA had lost, England would be the top seed from Group C, where they would be heavily favored against Ghana. Despite their earlier errors, the English would have regained some believers again.
Thanks to the American heroics, however, the World Cup 2010 looks very daunting for England now. Because they slipped to second in Group C, they have to face Germany in the knockout stage, instead of Ghana. Obviously, Germany offers a tougher task, but, even if England passes it, they might have to face Argentina in the quarterfinals. Even if they get past that, Brazil, Portugal or Spain might meet them in the semifinals.
As for the USA, it might not be wise to declare them favorites, given all the drama they create. In any case, the World Cup schedule 2010 pits them against a Ghana team that eliminated them in 2006 group play. If they survive that, they would face either South Korea, or undefeated Uruguay. Yet, in spite of how tough those nations are, they are not Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Portugal or Spain.
By winning the group, America is in a part of the World Cup schedule 2010 that is much more favorable. It is premature to put them in the semifinals or finals, of course, but they can defeat these teams on a good day. In contrast, England will have to wear itself out against superpowers, just to reach the final four and beyond.
Things would have been so much different if the USA had lost, or if England had just gotten one more goal against Slovenia. Instead, the World Cup schedule 2010 lines up just right for the Americans, assuming they don’t have any more letdowns. As for England, they must hope they righted the ship just in time.
