Wolfgang Puck’s Chicken & Dumplings organic soup is not my mom’s recipe but it’s extremely delicious if you just want to heat up a low-calorie comfort food fast.
Eating soup for dinner is a great way to lose weight as part of the Reverse Diet.
My mom’s recipe includes chicken boiled in water along with celery, onions, carrots and peas. After adding milk to the broth and cutting up the chicken, you make a dumpling mixture with parsley that is spooned on top of the boiling mixture. Nothing beats opening the lid to find fluffy dumplings.
Wolfgang Puck’s dumplings are not fluffy, but they are equally yummy Spaetzle dumplings. For busy families, it’s quicker to heat up the canned soup which is made with organic ingredients.
Wolfgang Puck has some of the best soups including Tortilla, Classic Minestrone, Lentil and Vegetable, Corn Chowder, Creamy Tomato, Creamy Butternut Squash, Old-Fashioned Potato, French Onion, Chicken Egg Noodle, Thick Country Vegetable, Roast Chicken with Wild Rice, Country Tomato with Basil.
Not all of the soups are low in calories, but I’ve been pleased with the nutritional facts. The chicken and dumpling is not a dairy-free or gluten-free soup.
Here are five things I learned during my Wolfgang Puck Chicken and Dumpling review:
No. 1: One serving contains 140 calories, making it a low-calorie comfort food. I estimate a serving to be a bit more than a half cup. It has 7 grams of fat, which fits into a low-fat or moderate-fat diet, and 2 grams of fiber, 2 grams of sugar, 5 grams of protein. I hate to say it, but my mom’s recipe is much more fattening!
No. 2: The Wolfgang Puck Chicken and Dumplings contains vitamins and nutrients including Vitamin A, Calcium and Iron.
No. 3: Ingredients in the Wolfgang Puck Chicken and Dumplings include organic chicken stock, dried onion, dried garlic, chicken, organic carrots, organic roasted potatoes, organic celery, cream, sea salt and spices such as turmeric.
No. 4: The Wolfgang Puck motto is “live, love, eat,” which I like because it fits into my “Eat, Love, Pray” diet. The package says “Life is about balance and eating well.”
No. 5: I suggest visiting the Wolfgang Puck website to read about some of his recipes. I know I personally use his French Onion soup for making roasts.
I thoroughly enjoyed having the Wolfgang Puck’s Chicken and Dumplings for dinner. It was filling and creamy – which made me feel as though I was eating more than 140 calories! The chicken appeared to be a mixture of both white and dark meats. I saw flecks of what looked like parsley as well as pepper.
Overall, Wolfgang Puck’s Chicken and Dumplings was a satisfying, low-calorie comfort food!
