Winning the lottery remains elusive to me despite my faithful weekly purchase of a ticket. Even so, in preparedness for that lucky day I know will come; I often indulge in fantasy about my rags to riches life once I do finally win a massive amount of money. Here I share five ways my life will change after winning the lottery.
1 – Lottery Winnings Will Build My Dream Log Cabin
I love the peace of living in the New England woods. No matter how much money I have when I win the lottery, I will not trade my six acres of land for any other place in the world.
However, in a heartbeat, I will gladly pay cash to anyone who brings in a bulldozer and puts my old house out of its misery. The relationship with my frumpy house has been over for a long time.
I confess I have been flirting with a classy, well-built log cabin for 25 years now. Do I feel bad it is going to end this way? No, I have no guilt whatsoever. The house I live in now just does not fit my lottery winning vision. My dream log cabin, however, does. All good things must end!
2 – Winning the Lottery Will Provide For Grandchildren
I want my four grandchildren to understand the concept behind setting goals and working hard for the material things they want in life. Dreaming is but a facet of building a strong foundation; doing is the mortar!
At the same time, winning the lottery will enable me to make sure they have some financial backup for the future, even though I will not let them know this in order that they strive to succeed on their own. Whether they use the money for college, to buy a home or perhaps start a business; winning the lottery will make this security possible.
3 – Rags to Riches – Help Someone Make a Fresh Start
My “winning the lottery” vision includes assisting someone down on their luck. I will help a few people who have always worked hard, but for whatever the reason, are having a bad run in life.
I am a staunch advocate of paying it forward. I received help a few times myself in life, when things were not going so great, so I will take great pleasure in being able to do the same.
4 – Winning the Lottery & Working Less
I have been working since I was 10, but honestly, after all the years I put in as an employee, and the last 17 years of endless hours building the business my husband and I own; I will work a lot less after winning the lottery!
I need to be busy and enjoy working, but the thought of blowing off a day (or three or four) of work to go to the beach is something I am more than ready to do at this point in my life. Heck, if I win enough money from that lucky lottery ticket, I may buy a beach house!
5 – Winning the Lottery Will Be a Guarded Secret
When I win the Massachusetts lottery, no matter what I have to do to keep it a secret, no one is going to know! I have read countless nightmare stories about people winning the lottery that end up stalked by every Tom, Dick and long-lost Aunt Edna walking the planet.
If you are not my daughters, my grandchildren, my sister, my brothers or part of my immediate circle of family and friends–you are not getting a dime of my money! You will have to buy your own ticket and like everyone else who dreams of winning the lottery, I hope you experience your own rags to riches story some day!
