Winning a large sum of money in a state or multi-state lottery would change just about everyone’s life, and mine would be no exception. An instant influx of cash in the hundreds of millions of dollars range provides the chance for all sorts of dreams to come true, and the lessons I have learned from watching the downfall of previous jackpot winner’s lives would definitely play a role in how winning the lottery would change my life. The main focus I would have is a priority scale. The scale would look something like this: my family, my extended family, friends, and finally charities. Here is a more comprehensive overview of the changes I would initiate:
First things first, I would zero my families debt. After that I would zero my parent’s and my parent’s in law debt. As for my sisters and brothers in law, they would all receive a nice cash payout, as well as certain other relatives. My parent’s and in-laws are great people and deserve to be able to live out their retirement on a worry-free basis, and I would make that happen.
The Party To End All Parties
I would have one party. One huge mega party, that is. I would take the time to plan it accordingly so that everyone I wanted to give a payment to would be there. I would include a ton of friends and family that I do not see often enough, and while they are enjoying some quality food and drink, I would walk around and provide each of them with an envelope. Everyone would receive different amounts, and I would definitely make sure it was enough to change their lives.
Month Long Vacation
I would take my wife and kids on a month long vacation, every year. While the destinations would change every year, I would make sure such family favorites as Disney World and Niagara Falls get visited every single year. Occasionally, I would rent a tour bus and take a large group of people on a tour of several different places throughout the months. The chance to experience the United States as up close and personal as possible would be a priority, just to see all the places and do as much as possible.
Saving For The Future
I also would take the careful steps of providing for my children’s future. I would set up savings accounts, purchase some stocks for them, and even set up a trust fund. Taking care of their futures, and giving them a fresh start will give them the chance may people never receive anymore. That chance consists of buying their first house and graduating from college without amassing a huge amount of debt.
The Rule Of Fifty Club
Over the past thirty years of my life experience, I have discovered that fifty thousand dollars is usually enough to change just about everyone’s life. While that sum of money may not pay off every piece of debt, it is often enough to pay off enough items to get families heading in the right direction of retiring properly and balancing their monthly budgets. The Rule Of Fifty Club would be an initial invest on my part, but would present fifty thousand dollars to various amounts of people. Imagine being able to help twenty families with just a one million dollar investment. Using a large payment to start and acquire interest through investments, as well as finding new ways to raise money, the charity would have a goal of helping twenty families a month. Hopefully, this vision could be expanded one day to fifty or sixty families. The only payment required for receiving the fifty grand would be volunteering for the charity activities to keep things moving in the right direction.
And that is how winning the lottery would change my life, now if I could just get a little lucky….
