Why should I care about the people, wildlife and the way of life for the people of the Gulf States? They do not care enough to insure that the levees were rebuilt even stronger after their first major hurricane hit and caused so much damage. They didn’t care when they first championed oil companies to drill offshore to put together a plan incase something this major happened again after the first time it occurred. Why shouldn’t I side with Joe Barton, Michele Bachman and the Republican Committee defending BP? They were in charge for 8 years and saw no reason to defend the coast then and right now their elected officials are fighting the blockage of further offshore drilling citing jobs even though part of that $20 billion dollars that BP agreed to place in escrow is for paying those now out of work because of the moratorium. Why?
Why should I care about immigration and the potentially unconstitutional law passed in Arizona since John Kyle and John McCain favors it and they live there? I don’t see the people of Arizona turning out in groves to protest and I certainly don’t see other political and community leaders making the necessary efforts to call those who authored this bill to the carpet. It’s like a silent wind swept in, wrote the law, encouraged those to vote and pass it in the legislator and then left as silently as they came. No one seems to be holding past administration’s feet to the fire for the years of kicking this can down the road. The media questions the Obama Administration on its lack of leadership regarding the BP oil spill but none seem to hold past administrator’s feet to that same fire. Why?
Because every journey starts with the first step and making sure that we are well protected or properly prepared for major incidences is our first step. Making sure that all who enters this country has the same opportunity to make it their own as those immigrants which came before. Honoring the birthright of all born on these shores instead of picking and choosing which race deserves which benefits. You should care because everyone can agree that this is your country and your nation. This world, this planet is in our hands now and we must protect and preserve it for the generations to come. It is s nothing more than our duty to see that this nation, our nation does not soon resemble some Third World country. You should care because if you believe nothing else, believe that our children are looking to us for actions and answers. Why should you care because if you do not speak up and out, how will anyone ever know your side of the story or hear what you have to say?
