Before I began to read about Dell’s new Lightning Phone, I thought I had it made by having received the iPhone 3GS for Christmas this past year. Now I really want to buy the Lightning Phone because I believe that I could make good use of some features that it has that are not available on my iPhone; FM radio, GPS, auto-focus five megapixel camera with 1GB of flash, and both AT&T and T-Mobile 3G capabilities.
Most people these days have iPods, so they can transport their music with them wherever they go. I don’t know what happened to me, but somehow I failed to purchase or receive an ipod, so in a way I am behind when it comes to technology, even though I have the iPhone. Having a phone with the capacity of an FM radio would truly benefit me, because I could carry it with me when I walk, and I could listen to music or news or whatever I felt like listening to. In addition, I may be more motivated to exercise, knowing that I had a form of entertainment to take my mind off of my sore muscles and heavy breathing due to being out of condition!
Not only would the FM radio in the phone benefit me if I were to go on a hike or a walk of some kind, but the GPS feature in the Lightning phone would prevent me from getting lost. I could simply type in the address of my destination, and I could continue en route in the right direction. As I write about this, I think about a friend of mine who walks a lot, and I think that he would find this feature as convenient as I would.
Another feature of the Lightning Phone that i like is the ” five-pixel auto adjusting camera.” When I went on my cruise last year, I took lots of photos with my iPhone, but unfortunately I cannot use my phone to take pictures in dark conditions, because my phone does not have a flash capability like the new Lightning Phone from Dell, which, as mentioned by engadget.com, has a ” 1GB of flash.”
Finally, having a phone that has the capability for 2 different phone services is handy, because it allows the user to choose the less expensive of the two services. I don’t have such a choice with my phone. I am obligated to use AT&T, because that is the service that comes with the iPhone.
For those who are interested, the Lightning Phone has additional features that both the Engadget website and the PCMAG website mention:” a Windows 7 portrait slider, a 1GHZ QSD8250 snapdragon processor, and WVGA 4-1 inch OLED display. “
With all of these features going for it, I would definitely buy the Dell Lightning Phone when it comes out. I can listen to the radio as I walk, I can find my way if I am lost with the GPS, I can take better pictures both day and night with the auto-focusing camera with built-in flash, and I can choose between two phone services for the least expensive one. I can’t wait until it goes on sale!
