Being a college student, I try to find the best deals that I can on everything and if I can’t find a good deal on it, I don’t buy it. So you see, if I really need something, I will do my best to find a great deal on it. School supplies are one of these things that require good deals considering you need so many of them, especially when you’re learning to become a teacher. So here are a few places that you can go in order to get those awesome sales on the school supplies that you need.
Well, it’s true. Walmart does have every day low prices. I admit, I try not to shop there… ever. I use to work there as a Deli Associate and let’s just say I will never be working there again ever in my life if I have anything to do with it. So it rubs me the wrong way, but unfortunately right now my wallet cannot afford regular priced notebooks. So, go to Walmart, especially right before school is about to begin. This entire month they’re going to have awesome sales because they know that you need school supplies… at every day low prices.
The Dollar Store
Here’s the thing about dollar stores, most people think they just have really super cheap things that aren’t worth it, but honestly? They have awesome school supplies. Notebooks, pencils, pens, pencil boxes, rubber bands, staplers, staples, tape, and a whole mass of other random supplies as well as lots of organizational tools for the up coming school year. It’s worth it. I love the dollar store.
Normally Target is on the more expensive side of things, but when it’s school season? Perfect place to go! They have a lot of wonderful school deals that most other stores do not have. Not to mention, you can eat popcorn while you shop around. They also have great deals on college materials for first year college students and even lots of great deals on the every day home necessities. All of it is usually really cute as well, or manly – depending on what you’re looking for.
The Sunday Paper
Even if you don’t get the Sunday paper, you can go buy at your local grocery story. The Sunday paper during this time of year has a ton of deals and coupons that will help you out. It’ll let you see where all the sales are and compare prices without even having to leave your house and drive around like a maniac trying to figure out where you can buy the cheapest notebook. It’s worth it to go buy it, you’ll be happy you did.
Drug stores such as Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid all have great back to school sales near the end of August. They don’t have a huge selection, but they have the basics such as glue, notebooks, pens, pencils, folders, binders, etc. If you’re in a rush and just need a thing or two that you forgot at Walmart, then going to a drug store would do the trick.
Office Supply Stores
Places such as office depot and staples have wonderful deals for back to school sales. I remember my mom and I use to get all of our school supplies from office depot as well as a new backpack or lunch box when I needed it. They have a huge selection because they are an office supply store so it would make sense they have 8 different colors of notebooks. They have great packet deals as well where you can buy a pack of 6 notebooks for the price of three and a huge pack of pens for only a few dollars. All the supplies you get at office supply stores also will last a long time and aren’t made with cheap materials.
I wouldn’t recommend purchasing supplies online because you may get destroyed by shipping and handling prices. Sure that loose leaf paper is only 2 cents, but hey look, it costs 8.99 to ship it to your house. Oh, and it’ll be there in 4 – 6 weeks. It’s a good idea to avoid this all together. I wish everyone luck in their school supply shopping!
