Recently I saw the movie called ” Twelve “, which is the story of a young man who becomes a drug dealer after the death of his mother from breast cancer. While there are some aspects of the film that I find disturbing such as sexuality, profanity, and violence, the movie does an excellent job of portraying in detail the lifestyle of drug addicts and their relationship with drug dealers.
One of the scenes in the movie deals with a young woman who becomes addicted to a powerful narcotic and hallucinogenic drug called ” Twelve. ” She desperately asks for someone who can give her the drug and, once she finds him, she tries to make a deal with him to pay for the drugs in other ways besides money. The drug dealer refuses until she offers him her body, and they make an arrangement for her to have sex with the dealer to pay for her portion of ” Twelve. ” A few frames later, the audience can see the two of them having sex with the young woman’s expression seeming to say ” what did I get myself into? “
Another way in which the movie illustrates the horrific lifestyles of the drug addict and the drug dealer is shown through the character named Chris. Chris is a drug addict who owed a drug dealer money for his share of the drug ” Twelve “, and he didn’t have the money. When the drug dealer comes to his apartment and learns that Chris is unable to pay him, he grabs the gun and shoots Chris dead.
The movie ” Twelve ” also depicts the way the addicted use those around them to get drugs. One young woman uses a poor unsuspecting man who is attracted to her in order to have a drug dealing party at his house. Unfortunately, the poor man does not realize that she is using him, and he arranges for the party to take place at his house.
” Twelve ” also describes how a drug addict hallucinates after he or she takes the drug. There is a scene in which a young woman is shown in her bedroom filled with teddy bears with whom she laughs and makes conversation. During this scene, the teddy bears are shown to be talking to her and laughing with her as well, which illustrates the hallucination that this woman experiences as a result of her taking ” Twelve. “
The most dramatic scene in the movie takes place towards the end, when a drug addict takes a gun and shoots everyone in the party, resulting in fatalities and injuries. The killer, who is facing an open window, gets shot by the police and ends up dead as well.
Even though I find that the movie ” Twelve ” is sad and is disturbing in some spots, I believe that the whole movie is a lesson to all to not get involved with hallucinogenic and narcotic drugs. The scenes in which young people use and kill each other, and they way they are affected by their drug addictions, are big warning signs that drugs are dangerous and that people should say no to them. I believe that the movie ” Twelve ” is an excellent depiction of the life of drug addicts, and that it suggests to everyone that the lives of the drug addicted and the drug dealers are dangerous and should be avoided at all costs!
