WellPoint has 33.7 million people on their health insurance policies. It is the largest health insurance policy holder in America. It also seems to be the most evil insurance company in America.
WellPoint Insurance Cancels Policies of Breast Cancer Patients
WellPoint discriminates against patients who are diagnosed with breast cancer and cancels their health insurance policy, report Reuters. WellPoint has created an algorithm to identify their policy holders who have received a diagnosis of breast cancer.
The algorithm then alerts the company to start a fraud investigation, to see if they can make some bogus reason to drop the policy because WellPoint does not want to pay for breast cancer treatment. It cruelly cancels the policies of breast cancer patients who urgently need medical care.
WellPoint & Recission
Insurance companies are more evil and Machiavellian than ever. It is called recission when insurance companies dump people with serious illnesses off the insurance policy. WellPoint put profits over people and they will do anything to save a buck, even dumping a policy holder who is in the midst of a life threatening health crisis.
They let policy holders pay premiums for many years. Then once the policy holder becomes seriously ill they dump that person from their insurance company. Then the person not only has to handle the serious illness they have to try to find new health insurance and get a lawyer to sue WellPoint.
WellPoint’s CEO, Angela Braly, Why Do You Mistreat Breast Cancer Patients?
WellPoint’s behavior is particularly shocking since the company has a female CEO, Angela Braly. Ms. Braly does not seem to have much compassion for her fellow women (or men) with breast cancer. If under her watch, WellPoint is utilizing recission to dump cancer patients she is not doing her job with integrity.
At a time when a patient is most vulnerable, trying to cope with a diagnosis of cancer, they also learn the unfortunate lesson that their insurance company does not care about them at all. They learn that they were just a dollar sign to that company. And when more dollars start going out for cancer care than the company makes for the policy, it seems WellPoint was fierce in its effort to cast aside the policy holder, even if doing so meant the patient could not get the needed cancer treatment.
Insurers Put Profits over People
EVIL! INHUMANE! It is absolutely sickening that the corporate greed of America’s insurance companies is causing people to have to try to put up a fight to maintain their health insurance when they are also possibly about to have surgery, chemotherapy, and to start a fight to stay alive.
The website FreeAdvice notes that WellPoint was “ranked one of the ten worst insurance companies in America by the American Association for Justice for its continual, and wrongful, insurance policies of recission.”
WellPoint Insurance is a Scam
The way WellPoint insurance runs the company equals a scam. Policy holders pay in and then later often get nothing when they are ill.
Let’s Hope Healthcare Reform Reins in Insurance Companies
Practice’s like WellPoint’s dumping of sick patients is why health care reform was urgently needed. Too many insurance companies start a vendetta against ill patients. They try to cancel a policy because all of a sudden that policy goes from profit making to costing the company money.
