Even the most fashionable woman can’t pull of a work look that is inappropriate and maintain a professional appearance. These are styles that should certainly be left at home, the club or the mall when heading out to work.
Short-shorts in any way shape or form are simply not work attire. With one small exception, there are fashionable Bermuda shorts that when paired with a nice top and shoes can give a very professional look, ideal for the workplace.
Extremely Short Skirts
Mid-length skirts are perfect for summer time work attire, even some short skirts. But skirts that are extremely short are inappropriate for work and need to be left at home. Confused on whether or not your skirt is too short? There’s an old traditional school trick that may be able to help you. When standing straight up, if your skirt is shorter than the point your finger tips end, it is probably too short for work.
Flip Flops are fun, comfortable, convenient and are appropriate for many different occasions and outings. Unfortunately, although many women attempt to get away with this fashion don’t, flip flops are not in any way appropriate for the savvy working woman, they should definitely be avoided at all costs.
Low necklines are appealing for laid-back, fun occasions but are definite no-no’s when it comes to work attire. Work is not the place to show extra skin, low necklines that are too revealing can definitely be distracting in the workplace and should totally be avoided.
See Through Fabrics
See through fabrics can be attractive in the summer and are perfect for the hot weather, but the workplace is a sure atmosphere that they should be avoided. Save the see-through fabrics for general knocking-about with friends and partying.
Spaghetti straps and strapless dresses or tops should also be avoided in the workplace, especially if there are visible undergarments beneath them. Visible undergarments can look very tacky and messy, which isn’t ideal for the savvy working woman in any way. With the addition of a half-jacket in a light and breathable fabric, possibly lace or linen ,spaghetti or strapless tops or dresses can be transformed into cute and professional work looks.
Too Much Patterned Fabric
The summer is a perfect time to experiment with fun patterned looks. And if worn correctly, can look professional and ideal for work. Too much of one thing hardly ever works, flowered or tribal patterns, from head to toe are not appropriate, especially for the work place. They can come off as loud and distracting.
