If you need a pick-me-up each morning on your way to work or while you work, you can find a little cup of espresso via satellite radio. Cosmo Radio, part of the Cosmopolitan magazine family, is talk radio unlike all other talk radio. Directed mostly towards Fun, Fearless Females, the station also attracts a fair share of male listeners.
One of the several shows on Cosmo Radio, Wake Up with Taylor, is home to a dynamic trio of hosts that excel in getting you up and going in the morning with comedy, hot debates and juicy gossip. If you are a fan of the Real Housewives or Sex and the City, this is the place for you. If you are a fan of tabloids, makeup, designer labels and general juicy celebrity drama… you will want to tune in as well. The “Fun Kids Club Squad Team” works hard to bring in the hottest celebrities for interviews, as well as weekly guests, such as Dr. Jen Wider with “Am I Normal?” Listeners are able to call in or write Dr. Wider with their embarrassing questions to be discussed on-air.
Taylor Strecker, the leading lady of the show, is a tiny girl with a lot of energy and a big voice. She is a firecracker, to say the least. Over the past year, listeners have followed her journey through planning a wedding, which takes place in the Hamptons this summer. There is a segment in the show called, “Almost Hitched Bitch” that is dedicated to all of the details of her wedding planning and drama. Her fiancé Brett takes a lot of beating during the show, often in a segment called “No He Didn’t,” where Taylor airs some of their personal dirty laundry for listeners to chime in on. Taylor is very upfront about her sexual modesty, but she won’t hesitate to call out parts of the male or female anatomy, with unique nicknames, on the air. Taylor has been with the station since its inception, and is now closing in on 5 years with the show.
The other fun, fearless female of the show, Victoria Keelan Henley, is also the other half of the “judgment twins,” a name Taylor and Victoria have given themselves because of their judgmental discussions on the air. Victoria provides a strong, intelligent, collected and judgmental voice to the group and she stands behind herself in everything she believes in. She is often considered the most intimidating to fans of the show. Victoria starts the show and every hour of the show with “7 Things You Need To Know Before You Go,” which breaks down the top 7 stories of the day. These stories are most-often celebrity based or news that will appeal to women. You can also hear Victoria on Wednesdays during the one-hour show called “He Said/She Said.” Victoria is married to Vic Henley, who is a comedian, and has a Chihuahua named Cooper. She grew up in New Jersey with her mother they refer to as “Fancy Nancy” on the show because of their ideals and place in society. For instance, Victoria has never been in a Wal-Mart. Victoria has been given a special place in the show to focus on opening her up to some less than ideal opportunities in “Victoria Gets Dirty.” She has participated in cleaning a bathroom stall, for instance. Victoria has moved around through a couple roles on the station over the years, but she has been with Wake Up with Taylor for at least the last three to four years and it’s probably safe to say she is not going anywhere anytime soon. She adds a lot to the show in her own strong, fancy and judgmental way.
Kenny Zimlinghaus is considered the show’s “girl-boy” because he really tunes into his girly side and shares a lot of secrets from the men’s side of things. He also produces the show and does stand-up comedy during his nights and weekends. Obviously, he brings some amazing comedy to the show. It would be hard to find a listener who doesn’t have a crush on Kenny, with his charm and open-ness on air. With social media now making the show very interactive between the listeners and the hosts, girls are able to write to and view pictures of Kenny all day long. Kenny participates in a few special segments in the show such as “Walk in Her Shoes,” where Kenny will be assigned a task from Taylor and Victoria or the listeners, of something that women have to do in their normal lives. In the past, he has participated in wearing high heels, wearing makeup, doing his own long hair (with a wig), going to see Sex and the City in the theater and so many more. “Kenny’s Question Corner” is also a part of the end of each day’s show, where Kenny will ask a question to try to figure women out. Kenny is currently single and dating, a year out of a serious, long-term relationship. Kenny is the other half of the hour-long show called “He Said/She Said” with Victoria. On Fridays, Kenny and Taylor have started “Fat Kid Fridays” after their desire to try the KFC’s Double Down. They take suggestions for interesting food to try on-air on Fridays, such as lobster ice cream or other unique and unhealthy foods. Kenny has a cat named Steve, who recently lost his “peeps” (as they call penis) and Kenny’s raspy-voiced mother is often called on the show for some great entertainment.
Wake Up with Taylor will make your commute or work day morning fly by. It is a continuous burst of energy for your morning. Everything discussed on the show is something all women (and some men) can relate to. Tune in to Sirius 111 or XM 162 between 7 and 11 am Eastern to catch all the fun!
