VoteHollyWood.com is an excellent idea. Not only are the consumers going to get movies they like, but money will be flowing all around. The economy being what it is currently I understand the need for a more efficient use of time and money. Millions of dollars will no longer be poured into films that crash and burn at the box office. This will lift the morale of new actors/actresses, stimulate the economy, and give the consumer a sense of control over such a large industry.
What is it?
Vote Holly Wood is a website where the audience chooses what films they would like to see in production. A producer with an idea for a film, or even an independent agent will be able to explain their film to the audience and see if anyone bites. This will allow filmmakers to see early on if even the idea is a hit. If it’s not, they have saved an incredible amount of time and money by simply posting it online and determining its future popularity.
There is no film without an initial investment. Someone has to believe in the movie before it is allowed to begin production. These investors may not be as ‘in-tune’ with the people of today’s society than they think and as such can be in line to lose a great deal of money. This new website, which allows the audience to ultimately choose what movies they would like to see, will eliminate a lot of the guess work and risk. From an investing stand point this is a genius plan.
Those in the Movie Business
To pour your heart and soul into a film that crashes at the box office has to be like watching someone put your heart in a blender. This will enable producers and actors to see in advance how well their film may do after production. There are hundreds of small-time film producers every year who have one film, it’s a bust, and they leave the industry for good. It’s tragic to see all that talent walk away simply because they didn’t understand the audience well enough to gear the movie towards them. Actors and Actresses suffer the same sad experience. If they are in a film that flops, successful directors may not want to cast them in current films. This website invention will lead to a wider variety of talent to choose from.
The audience finally has control over the films in theater. This will increase ticket sales I am almost certain. When consumers feel they are in control, respected, and listened to they are far more likely to take pride in the finished product. If a film is voted for by 50,000 people for example, they will see it in production and know they made the difference whether that film hit the big screen or not. If I had that level of responsibility I would sure buy a ticket to that film and take someone along with me to explain the small but very important role I played in its production.
Increasing ticket sales and decreasing investment risk will stimulate the economy. Although consumers are currently in ‘save-mode’ with their finances, which is exactly what is hindering our economy. To boost it we need to spend money. That will create many more jobs. This website alone I’m sure will create new jobs, and that is something to support.
