Visit National Parks for Free During No-Fee Weekends

Every year the National Park Service holds several no-fee weekends. Guests can visit the parks without paying an entrance fee. Charges for special programs, lodging, camping, concessions and other services still remain. August 14 and 15, September 25 and November 11, 2010 are upcoming no-fee days.

Over 100 of the nation’s National Parks are participating in the no-fee events. Many of the participating parks’ concessions are offering special discounts. Here is a list of the special deals available for the remainder of 2010:

Dry Tortugas National Park, FL

Yankee Freedom II Ferry

On August 14, August 15 and November 11, 2010 passengers riding the Yankee Freedom II will have a chance to win two return visits to Dry Tortugas and Ft. Jefferson. The tickets are valued at $160.00 each. Call 1-800-634-0939 or visit their website to make reservations and get more information.

Everglades National Park, FL

Shark Valley Tram Tours (TRF Concession Specialists)

Visitors to Everglades National Park can purchase buy one, get one at half price tickets for a two hour tram tour on August 14, 15 and September 25, 2010. On November 11, 2010 (Veteran’s Day) all veterans and their dependents can purchase tickets at half price. For more information call 305-221-8455, or visit their website.

Glacier National Park, MT

Swan Mountain Outfitters

Swan Mountain Outfitters are offering 3 discount packages for visitors on August 14, August 15 and September 25, 2010. A family package offering children 17 and under $5.00 off standard rates when accompanied by an adult paying full fare. The discount is valid on one or two hour tours. Groups of 6 or more can take a one or two hour tour at $5.00 off per rider. Montana residents that can show proof of residency receive $5.00 off any one or two hour tour.

Grand Canyon National Park, AZ

Xanterra South Rim, L.L.C.

Grand Canyon South Rim Stores are offering discounts on “stacker packs” of shirts and other merchandise. Discounts on organic t-shirts and blanket throws are available at select locations. Check the website for more information.

Lake Mead National Recreation Area, AZ

Seven Crowns Resort

Visit the park from August 9 through August 15, 2010 and receive 25 percent off room rates at the Lake Mohave Resort. To make reservations, call 1-800-752-9669 and use promotion code KNPWK. This promotion cannot be combined with other discounts. A second offer for September and November is available. Book two nights at the Lake Mohave Resort over September 25 or November 11, 2010. Reserve a room with a king sized bed or two double beds and receive a free one day patio boat rental. This is a $405.00 value for $250.00 plus tax and utilities. Use promotion code KPAT.

Can’t make it this year? Don’t worry; the National Parks Service offers no-fee days every year in April, August, September and November. A complete list of National Parks participating in the 2010 no-fee days can be found here. Combining discounts with free admission will save families a bundle.
