Vienna Cries and Jake Whines

by itchyfish

I have not wasted a great deal of time on the Bachelor or the Bachelorette since the Jason/Melissa/Molly debacle of a few seasons ago. I caught maybe five minutes of the Jillian season, long enough to see Jake come back after getting the boot in order to further plead his case. As with everything this show presents to us, I thought it was staged with the object being to generate buzz before declaring Jake the next Bachelor. I watched a little bit of that season, not so much because I liked Jake because I truly did not. I cannot stand a man who is a whiner, and the only person I have seen recently that can beat Jake at this game is the aforementioned Jason. However, I could not tolerate Vienna and apparently few others in the house could either, and I think I was just watching to see if one of the other ladies finally got fed up and clocked her.

Well, that never happened and as the weeks went by and the list grew shorter, I could not believe she was still there. Everyone warned him about her and I thought it hilarious when he told her mother and her mother replied something along the lines that this was how it had always been. Apparently through school no one like her either. However, it seemed as though Jake was thinking with that body part that most men think with (no, not the brain) and she looked to be the odds on favorite long before the final show.

Tenley was my favorite and Gia a close second and Vienna never even made the cut in my opinion. But here they were, Jake and Vienna declaring their never ending love for each other (in six short weeks) and he was on his knee proposing. Then came the usual talk show appearances and I patiently waited til the time came when Jake and Vienna’s fifteen minutes would be over and they would go quietly away. But no, then the cast of Dancing With The Stars is revealed and here is Jake again. I thought he was a pilot? I guess ABC thought they could generate the same adoration for him as they did when they hired Melissa Rycroft as a last minute replacement. However, where Melissa had both personality and talent, unfortunately for Jake he has neither. He actually managed to outwhine Kate Gosselin and that takes some doing no matter what the circumstances. I have heard that he considered dumping Vienna at that point so he would get more votes. Let me be the first to say, Vienna is not why people were not voting for him.

Now he is tapped to be on Drop Dead Diva and is appearing on every talk and tabloid show possible to whine about Vienna. They were interviewed this eveing after Ali gave out this week’s roses. Vienna, I believe, was very straightforward with her issues but while Jake was asked by both Vienna and Chris to be specific, the best he could come up with that she had supposedly emasculated him was the fact that she tried to help arrange bedroom furniture so the drawers on the dresser would open and she checked the GPS for directions after which he promptly threw it into the back of the car in a temper fit. Vienna on the other hand states that Jake would not be intimate with her, instead coming up over the last six months with various excuses not to be and that the only time any wedding was discussed was when a reporter would ask them about one. From her description of the relationship, Jake is looking for a Stepford Wife and has one main concern and that is pursuing his acting career. Vienna is not holding him back there, it is his total lack of talent. He kept going on and on about being interrupted but even when they gave him the opportunity to speak, he was too busy giving these long drawn out sighs and pauses for dramatic effect, and then when Vienna opened her mouth again, it was “see, see! Always interrupting!” At this point, I was hoping Vienna would clock him. Instead, she ran off in tears and Jake used that time to whine a little more.

So now the former residents of the house during the time he was on the Bachelorette claim they thought he was gay while living there with them. Some of the former contestants on the Bachelor got the same vibes from him. Tanya Douglas who is reportedly Jake’s former girlfriend is also having her say. She maintains that he told her he had financial troubles and was going to solve them with his appearance on the Bachelorette/Bachelor, and that he called her within hours of proposing to Vienna to reassure her it was all for the money but she kicked him to the curb. According to Ms. Douglas, Jake will step on anyone in the way of getting what he wants, which is to be an actor.

So, this is an open plea to TPTB in Hollywood that you DO NOT perpetuate Jake’s moment in the sun. I know I have seen enough. And looking back on the final few episodes of the Bachelor and the way things have turned out now, I truly believe he chose Vienna in part because she was probably the most despised contestant on the show in a long time, maybe ever. He knew it would never last and I doubt he was actually looking for love or his soulmate or the woman he would marry and spend his life with or any of the other garbage the writers on this show have them spout from week to week. He needed someone who could gain attention for him, but that he could avoid the backlash of public opinion when he dumped her like Jason generated when he dumped Melissa. Sorry, Jake. Although never a fan of Vienna, I tend to be on her side in this one. I only wonder why she did not kick you to the curb months ago. I wish her the best of luck in the future.

I wonder sometimes about how long this franchise can go on and continue to draw the numbers. Ryan and Trista and their marriage is the only true success so far. It is too soon to rule on Jason and Molly but with what they suffered (yet brought on themselves) after that season, then if they are still together at this point then it may last. Jillian is supposed to be engaged, and if that relationship survives to make it to the altar, that will be three couples out of 20 counting this season. Not a great track record, and if you look back through them you can pinpoint so many people who used the show for their own reasons, the least of which was finding true love. Ali so far this season has encountered Justin, who had not one but two girlfriends waiting back home whose only purpose was to promote his wrestling career. In light of the previews tonight, it seems that Frank also has a little bit on the side waiting for him. I really think that is the reason she sent Ty home this evening, is because it has been basically a contest between him and Frank and she has decided on Frank. Wrong move.

So, that is the latest from Bachelor-land. Vienna says he only wants to be famous, Jake says she emasculated him (by rearranging furniture) and does not respect him (by checking the GPS). Funny, seems like I heard him tell Chelsea Hightower on DWTS that she did not respect him. Here’s a clue Jake: Women don’t respect men who whine like babies. There is a huge difference between being sensitive and being a big whiny baby. Learn it. Go home you two, your fifteen minutes are up.
