Am I a Vampire? Are you a Vampire? Can you turn me into a vampire? These are questions that are commonly heard in the vampire community. They are questions that can be difficult, if not impossible to answer. I’ll attempt to address them here to the best of my ability.
Questions about me
Q: Are you a Vampire?
A: Speaking for myself, it can be foolhardy, and even dangerous, to attach a label such as that to oneself.
Do you have what are commonly considered vampiric traits and tendencies? In short, yes. Does that in itself make me a vampire? Probably not.
Do you have an affinity for, or attraction to vampires and vampiric things? Well, YEAH. I run a vampire site, don’t I?
Do you think you’re immortal/will die in the sun/insert other ridiculous concept here? Of course not. I’m just as mortal as you or anyone else. If you think you’re immortal, I’d love to see you prove it. (Said with extreme sarcasm) While I am rather sensitive to the sun, it won’t kill me, unless, of course, I were to stay out in it for days on end without food or water. I love garlic and silver. I don’t like crosses or crucifixes, but they won’t make my skin light on fire if you hold one against me.
Would you die if I staked/beheaded you? Um, YEAH, those methods would kill ANYTHING.
Please try to take my sarcasm with a grain of salt; I’ve heard some pretty ridiculous claims and accusations in my day. And if you think I’m being evasive, I am. Even if I were a vampire, I wouldn’t go blabbing it to the world, and neither should you. There are some seriously crazy people in this world, and God knows what you could get yourself into. Even admitting a mere interest in vampires can be dangerous in some circles.
I know that some may say that if you’re not willing to stand up and shout that you’re a vampire, then you’re really not, but if you pay attention, you’ll see that most RLVs are very private people. We do our part and speak our peace, but we don’t go around waving red banners at the world.
Q: Why do you have a vampire site when there are already so many of them on the ‘net?
A: Because I think it’s important to have resources for real vampires (psi and sang) with different points of view and different information. As much as we may try, I don’t think any one webmaster can cover all the topics, or get all the information that people will want and put it into one place. I’m doing my very best to make a site that is attractive, informational, and entertaining. I also want to be able to express my experiences and my point of view. No one person has all the right answers. Also, there are a lot of sites out there that frighten, misinform, or mislead the people that come to them. I want people to have a place they can come to that is accurate, up-to-date, and safe.
Q: What are you doing for the vampire community?
A: I’m trying to provide a resource for real vampires, entertainment and education for vampire fans, and a safe new place for RLVs to share their thoughts. I know my site hasn’t been around that long, and I haven’t had much of a chance to really get into the community, but all things come with time. I have plans for a lot of things. Even if I’m not writing a book or getting interviewed on TV, I can still do my part from here and try to make a difference in the community, and educate people outside it for the benefit of our collective safety and happiness.
