Peanut butter has many uses, most of them are in the kitchen and end up being eaten. Sure everyone knows about peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, peanut butter cookies, peanut butter on a piece of toast, peanut butter on pancakes and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. But did you know that peanut butter has many other uses. These uses range from removing residue to removing tar and both types of peanut butter, crunchy or smooth, have their own uses.
One of the most popular uses for peanut butter outside the kitchen is removing chewing gum from some one’s hair. How often have you heard of parents cutting chewing gum out of their child’s hair? This may have even happened in your house. But, did you know that just by rubbing the peanut butter into the chewing gum that is in the child’s hair then using a washrag to wipe it up, you can forget having to use the scissors. After all, the chewing gum is never in a location on the child’s head where cutting the hair is going to look good. Also, this will also work on other areas where chewing gum has been stuck, such as carpets.
Ok, have you ever bought something that is metal or plastic and tried to take the price tag off of it? Usually part of it comes off, the paper part and the sticky adhesive part is left on the item, right? How are you going to get that adhesive residue off of your newly purchased item? All you have to do is take a small amount of peanut butter and rub it over the adhesive residue. Continue to rub the area and it should come off pretty quickly and easily.
Ever wish you could take a picture of a bird or small animal, but every time you put out that bait, you know the sunflower seeds or the peanuts, the animal or bird grabs the bait and leaves with it before you get to take your picture? The solution to this problem is peanut butter. Put a dab of peanut butter on a perch where you can take a picture of the critter that decides to try it out. The nice thing about this is that the animal or bird can not leave with the peanut butter and you will have more time to get your picture.
The last tip for using peanut butter is to remove tar from your car or from your shoes. To do this simply apply some peanut butter to the area where the tar has been found the rub it until the tar comes off. Chunky peanut butter will probably work best for this application.
