Amino acids, which are the biological building blocks of protein, are foundational to the body’s ability to repair, sustain, and add quality lean muscle mass. Many amino acids are naturally occurring in the body while others can only be found in foods. Bodybuilders and athletes can greatly benefit from additional supplementation of amino acids, however, particularly because amino acids are employed and expended during strenuous exercise or training. Therefore, supplementing with an amino acid product like TwinLab Amino Fuel Liquid can be incredibly useful. I took supplemented with TwinLab Amino Liquid Fuel during my senior year of high school and my freshman year of college, and I intend on using it again in the future.
TwinLab Amino Fuel Liquid Review – Taste: 7/10
If there is any downside to this product, it is definitely the taste and texture of the product. There is no actual flavor for the formula, but Amino Fuel Liquid is incredibly thick and tastes somewhat like bitter orange peel. I never really grew fond of the taste, but I did discover that TwinLab Amino Fuel is more tolerable when mixed with water. Other times, I would simple take a straight tablespoon (three per serving) and follow it with a quick gulp of water.
TwinLab Amino Fuel Liquid Review – Mixability: 9/10
As briefly aforementioned, Amino Fuel Liquid is far more easily consumed when mixed with water or a beverage like orange juice. Despite the fact that the formula is quite thick, it actually mixes easily in water. The consistency conforms to water quite well, and it does not clump. Again,
TwinLab Amino Fuel Liquid Review – Overall: 8/10
Although I really like the amino acid profile of Amino Fuel Liquid, there are other amino acid supplements that I’d prefer over this one. Beyond the bitter taste, Amino Liquid Fuel is not the most cost effective supplement. A 16 fl. oz. bottle generally costs $12-17, but there are only 10 servings per bottle! On the other hand, each serving is three tablespoons and provides 15g of protein through the high content of amino acids. Because of this, one can simply take less tablespoons. Amino acids, such as those found in Amino Fuel Liquid and other amino acid supplements, are more quickly absorbed than those naturally occurring in protein shakes. Thus, supplementing with a tablespoon of Amino Fuel Liquid, in addition to protein shakes, would definitely be more worth it. Once again, I really do appreciate the ingredients of the formula. It is very fast-digesting and the additional B-complex vitamins make it a strong pre- and post-workout supplement.
When to Take Amino Fuel Liquid
Amino acid supplements like TwinLab Amino Fuel Liquid can certainly be taken throughout the day; however, they are most effective when taken upon waking and before and after workouts. Supplementing with Amino Fuel Liquid upon waking allows the body to jumpstart the anabolic process by stimulating protein synthesis. The same goes for pre- and post-workout supplementation, a critical time when the body is most in need of nutrients and amino acids. As far as taking Amino Fuel Liquid before bed, I would caution doing so, only because of the B vitamins in the product that may make it difficult to fall asleep.
