True Blood Season 3 Episode 4: 9 Crimes Review

by itchyfish

True Blood just keeps on surprising me this season like the previous season before it. The coming out of the werewolves, the unraveling of all the different plots and the sexual appeal of the show keeps us all wanting more. This season it seems that there are many stories that are panning out and beginning to connect. Of course, each episode leaves us with a cliffhanger making True Blood lovers eagerly await the next episode.

9 Crimes, the most recent episode, Sookie set out to Jackson Mississippi in hopes of locating her vampire lover, Bill Compton. At Eric’s behest, Alcide, a werewolf from the area helps her get into the club where his ex-fiance is being initiated into another pack of werewolves who are addicted to “V”, otherwise known as vampire blood. It enables the wolves to become a lot stronger and can even become strong enough to challenge even the oldest vampires. The episode opened with Sookie tending to wounds that Alcide received in a fight with another werewolf earlier to protect her. During that time, Bill finally calls Sookie and breaks up with her quite harshly in my opinion. Yes, it was because he is trying to protect her but the way he put it was a little bit cruel. He told her about having sex with Lorena, the vampire who made him. She begins to cry and looks to Alcide for comfort. To her surprise, his body is warm, unlike the cold, dead body of the man she loves so dearly.

It’s revealed that Franklin, the vampire who hooked with Tara, is employed by Russel, the vampire who has Bill basically captive. His intentions are still unclear but it appears that he has big plans for Tara. I don’t know how to feel about Franklin, he seems to be a rather eccentric character and I’m sure the more episodes we see, the more we will learn of what he’s really after.

Sam is having trouble with his new found family, especially his brother Tommy who he caught trying to steal from his safe. They have a conversation that makes it look like things will get better between them. Since his family has fallen into hard times, he offers them a place to stay. Perhaps it wasn’t the best idea he has ever had but he felt obligated.

Eric saves Lafayette from getting beat up by some drug dealers and forces them to make the deal with him to buy the vampire blood he is trying to get rid of.

The best part of this episode, the part that is really making me wonder what will happen occur ed towards the end. The Magister breaks into Eric’s club Fangtasia and finds vampire blood which makes him very angry. He takes Pam captive and tells Eric he will kill her if he doesn’t find Bill Compton after they put the blame on him for the vampire blood selling. I don’t know what will come from that situation but I’m sure it won’t be good.

True Blood, in my opinion, is one of the best made shows on prime time and I hope it stays around for many seasons. The story lines are great and the characters are spectacular. What more could we ask for in a TV show?
