True Blood Rolling Stone cover buzz is scorching online. But the True Blood Rolling Stone cover may be too scorching for shelves, as the True Blood Rolling Stone cover is graphic in more ways than one. Having a cover where the stars are naked may not be the issue, as the magazine has photographed people naked before. Showing their naked bodies covered in fake blood, while in obvious sexual positions, is something else. With the True Blood Rolling Stone cover set to hit newsstands this week, fans hope to be able to actually buy the issue.
According to E’s Ted Casablanca, he heard that some stores would not put up the issue, even though he points out how nudity is a recurring theme on magazine covers. Of course, this is no ordinary image, since the True Blood Rolling Stone cover pushes the envelope with nudity, sex and gore all at once.
As fans and bloggers know, the image has Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer and Alexander Skarsgard covered in blood, and nothing else. What’s more, Paquin is pressed up against the groin of real-life fiancée Moyer, while Skarsgard is pressed against her from the front.
This kind of True Blood Rolling Stone cover is fitting for the sexy, gory show – and likely something that Sookie/Bill/Eric fanfic writers would dream up. . However, those kind of antics are on HBO at night, and would be considered less appropriate in other venues. Whether it is too inappropriate for this one is still up for debate.
The obvious question some will ask is whether the True Blood Rolling Stone cover is appropriate for kids to see, when passing by supermarket shelves and newsstands. Even a fan of the show asks on Babble whether it goes too far, wondering if it’s something she needs to explain to her kids at the supermarket.
Even if a few store managers and stand owners think the cover is too much, it probably can’t make much difference. The True Blood Rolling Stone cover image is already a big thing online, and will be bought up by fans of the show. No matter what, the magazine has achieved a lot of buzz, as they’ve distinguished themselves from their nude covers of the past.
The show itself certainly isn’t starving for buzz, but they have an extra batch as the third season nears an end. Their anything goes approach has made it big on HBO, and on Rolling Stone as well. Creator Alan Ball proved it further when he discussed “The Joy Of Vampire Sex” in the issue itself.
For now, the True Blood Rolling Stone cover is still set for wide distribution on newsstands, although most have already gotten their taste of it – appetizing or not – online this week.
