Some people like to travel for the Memorial Day holiday. Below is a list of places to go on the first holiday of the summer season.
Special Memorial Day Events In 2010: Waterloo Remembers 144th Memorial Day Commemoration.
May 28th to 30th 2010 in Waterloo N.Y., the town will celebrate Memorial Day in the downtown area. Activities start at 8 a.m. with a breakfast buffet and continue throughout the day. Events include a 5K Run, pizza eating contest, biker rally, and a car show.
A Freedom Parade takes place on May 29th at 11 a.m. the march will start on Main Street and end at Lafayette Park.
The Arts & Crafts Show will be held in Lafayette Park on May 29th and 30th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. One hundred vendors will feature expert handmade wood items, paintings, dolls, food, and candles.
Children’s events included, but not limited to Morgan the Magician, puppetry of Tom Knight, wagon rides, and games.
Special Memorial Day Events In 2010: Tidewater and Hampton Roads Memorial Day Parade in Portsmouth, Virginia
The parade has been a tradition since 1884. It begins at 11 a.m. at I.C. High School, proceeds on High Street to Crawford Street, and ends on County Street by 1 p.m. Children and pets are welcomed.
Special Memorial Day Events In 2010: The 23rd Annual Boulder Creek Festival in Boulder, Colorado
Boulder Creek Festival is free to the public. The event starts on May 29th and ends on May 31st. Five hundred vendors will showcase arts & crafts, food, technology, and health alternatives. Five stages will feature live band performances with dancing space.
Special Memorial Day Events In 2010: The 22nd Hometown Holiday Celebration in Rockville, MD.
The three-day festival will take place in Rockville Town Square. Arts & crafts vendors include, but not limited too, photographer Bill Wierzalis, handbag fiber specialist Valerie Williams, and jeweler Deb Soromenho.
On May 29th main stage musical performances include, The Bruce Daigrepont Cajun Band, Tab Benoit, and Papa Grows Funk. Also, kids activities are available from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., exhibitors of green products from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., and performance by Ruthie and the Wranglers on the Montgomery Stage at 3:30 pm.
On May 30th, Plaza Stage musical performances will be provided by Old Man Brown, Na’ Bodach, and Lloyd Dobler Effect. The kids’ stage will feature Reptiles Alive and Kaydee Puppets.
May 31st the Rockville band and chorus will perform at 9 a.m. and a town parade will kick off on Martins Lane and end on East Jefferson Street.
Special Memorial Day Events In 2010: Love Festival in Las Vegas, N.V.
This is the perfect trip for single adults who wish to stay away from the family atmosphere. The Love Festival will take place at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. Tickets are on sale now, but some events allow you to pay at the door. The dress code calls for fashionable attire and swimsuits. You must be 21 or older to attend the festival.
On May 27th at the Ghostbar, Carlos Sanchez will spin turntables followed by Keith Evan’s. Doors open at 8 p.m. and cover charge is $20 (local ladies are free). The Rain Nightclub is hosting a retro roller skating disco party. Entry is $5 in advance and $15 at the door. Quad skates are available to rent for $5. Guests can bring their own roller skates. May 28th Palms Pool & Bungalows hosts a Ditch Friday poolside party with hip-hop DJs Rev Run, Ruckus, and Scotty Boy. Ditch Friday begins at noon. Tickets start at $25 (local ladies are free). Later in the evening, Rain Nightclub will host Z-Trips Revolution featuring two popular DJs. Outside of Palms Pool & Bungalows, Keith Evans will rock at poolside. Venue doors open at 10 p.m. and tickets start at $30. Access includes both Rain Nightclub and Palms Pool & Bungalows.
On May 29th Billboard 100’s Jason Derulo hosts Skinny Dip at the Palms Pool & Bungalows. Derulo will perform one musical set and DJ Zen Freeman will play a unique three-hour set. Doors open at 10 a.m. and tickets start at $25. Nightlife events will be hosted by Rain Nightclub.
On May 30th the official Love Festival will take place at the Palms Pool & Bungalow. Doors and performances will start at 10 a.m. and tickets start at $25. At 9 p.m. the Rain Nightclub will feature talented DJs. Tickets start at $50, which includes access to the Rain Nightclub and Palms Pool & Bungalows.
