Top Summer Vacation Destinations for 2010

by itchyfish

Arizona should be considered one of the top summer vacation destinations for this or any year. Forget all the hoopla about Arizona’s immigration problems. While some activists try to get visitors to stay away, they fail to realize that the state’s great beauties of nature have been there for millions of years, and they and the hard-working people of the Arizona tourist industry should be kept immune from political extremism.

The most famous natural beauty in the state is the Grand Canyon. It consists of the South and North Rims. Because they’re more than 20 miles apart, their weather patterns are different. The North Rim has the cooler summer temperatures, rarely rising above 90 in daylight and drops to the low 40s at night. The South Rim, where about 80 percent of tourists visit, has delightful summer daytime temperatures in the 70s and 80s, and 60s at night.

Because the Grand Canyon is in what is primarily desert of the Southwest, the air is sparkling clear and humidity is very low. Visitors with arthritis and other ailments from Eastern cities with sticky summer climates find the climate very comfortable.

Lake Tahoe sits on the border with California. It is also high up in mountain territory, so summer temperatures are quite moderate, and the scenery of the pine, aspen and maple forests is spectacular. There are wonderful accommodations, ranging from trailer camps to tents to motels to luxury resorts. While summer days can be hot, the nights are very cool, especially lakeside or cruising over to the Nevada side of the lake to hit the casinos, top restaurants and best entertainment.

Another enjoyable summer vacation destination does sit permanently at some hotel, mountaintop or beachfront. However, it is at least as enjoyable as the most luxurious resort. Consider cruising for your summer vacation.

Cruises have all the elements of a resort. Unlimited food choices, swimming pools, spas, games and classy entertainment. However, the best feature of cruises is that you usually wake up at an exciting new location every day. Venice, Istanbul, Cabo San Lucas, Philadelphia, Bermuda, the Panama Canal, Sitka, Boston or Monte Carlo.

Choosing top summer vacation destinations is a matter of choice, depending on budget, personal opinions, location, your age and many other factors. Before you make your decision, it would be wise to do some research and consultation with travel experts, so that you’ll get the most fun at a moderat cost for your summer vacation.
