306 Sinatra Drive
Hoboken, N.J. 07030
on the corner of 3rd st.
This exquisite restaurant located on the Hudson River in downtown Hoboken has breathtaking views of the river as well as the Manhattan skyline and also has tastefully done low mood lighting which does nothing but add to the romantic feel of Trinity. What makes this place also a great romantic choice is the privacy that is achieved even though it can be a pretty lively crowd. The tables are spread nicely apart and the low roar of the crown gives you a pleasantly isolated feel as the banter from other tables acts as a buffer so you can carry on that intimate conversation and hear each other but not many can hear you. The staff is impeccable and never leaves you waiting. The food here is outstanding! To start i recommend the potato and parsley soup and for the entree you can never go wrong with the seared porterhouse pork chop. There is also a full service bar and a fantastic wine selection. Pricing is moderate to high and although there is no dress code casual but nice is the minimum.
104 Washington Street
Hoboken, N.J. 07030
between 1st and 2nd st.
Located in the heart of Hoboken, this Cuban eatery is not the fanciest place to dine at but the old school style of La Isla feels like a romantic trip back in time. It’s decor is almost that of a 1950’s style luncheonette so go there and feel like those romantic teenagers again. The staff is fast paced and very efficient and all are welcome. To start i recommend the papa rellena which is mashed potato’s stuffed with ground beef and cooked crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. As for the main course order the choripan which is grilled chorizo with caramelized onions and crunchy potato sticks on grilled Cuban bread. And absolutely try their coffee as it is some of the best you will ever have. There is no liquor here but feel free to bring some of your own as it is B.Y.O.B. Dress is casual and the pricing is low to moderate so grab your man or woman and go out for that romantic evening.
135 Washington Street
Hoboken, N.J. 07030
corner of 2nd st.
A nice mix of old world charm with a modern hip atmosphere. What makes this place so romantic is the intimate dining room upstairs which is perfect for a lovely evening out for you and that significant other. You can visit the lively bar downstairs for a pre dinner drink or afterwords for a night cap. For an appetizer you should definitely start with the Foie Gras, Porcini and Potato Ravioli. See if it’s not the best appetizer you ever had. As for the entree you can never go wrong with the Garlic Rubbed Skirt Steak. The pricing is moderate to high and dress is high end casual but dressing up for that romantic evening out in fancy clothes would not be out of place here. The staff is unbelievable and always on the ball. There is a full bar and an extensive wine list so go, be romantic and enjoy.
The best way to get to these romantic eateries is without a doubt public transportation. The buses 22, 89, and 126 from Manhattan as well as the path train and several New Jersey Transit trains all stop at the Lackawanna station which is in close proximity to all of these restaurants. So make plans with that special someone to go out for an intimate night out and when choosing you can’t go wrong with picking one of these places as they are the top restaurants for a romantic evening in Hoboken, New Jersey.
