Summer is one of the best times to spend in Happy Valley, or State College, PA. Bar tending is a great way to make some cash quickly, and have some fun doing it. You have to be a sociable and able able to make conversation to be able to hold this position, and summer is a great time to apply. Many of the students leave after the spring semester, so bars and restaurants are always hiring. Usually, you need experience, but often employers are lenient in the summer and might give someone a chance.
Waiting tables is another excellent job to earn income. It can be a very hard, especially if you do not know how to handle people. These are available by the handful during the summer. Most often, you can keep your job after summer is over, and continue to work into the fall and spring.

Becoming involved with local summer camps is probably one of the more gratifying jobs in State College. There are many programs offered through out the summer that are in need of active, and young adults to keep up with hundreds of children. If you manage to get a position, you have a greater chance with being rehired the following summer. Penn state has a wide variety of positions to choose from, like roof crew, painting, landscaping, and many others.
Since State College is a rapidly growing town, many families seek nannies and babysitters for their children, until they go back to school in the fall. Usually, these families are the staff and faculty at the university. Parents often have high requirements, such as clearances and maybe being in a child development major. Some babysitting jobs can be fun, and you get to play all summer at the pool and the park. It’s a great job if you do not mind kinds and are mature and responsible enough to take on. Children are demanding, and also exhausting. This job is not for just anyone.
