Las Vegas is full of strip mall cuisine and overcrowded designer Mexican restaurants. As a Las Vegas native, finding great authentic Mexican food is all about driving around and trying a few dishes or 20. The best Mexican restaurants in Las Vegas include Lindo Michoacan, Dona Maria Tamales, Serrano’s Mexican Fasts Food, and Frank & Fina’s Cocina.
Lindo Michoacan
Lindo Michoacan is more than a local’s favorite, the Mexican restaurant has been voted “The Best Mexican Food in Las Vegas” for 2004 – 2009. There are four locations in Las Vegas and Henderson, NV. Lunch menus range in price from $9.50 US Dollars to $11.50 US Dollars and is served until 5:00 P.M. After 5:00 P.M., dinner selections are available for a wide range of prices. A live Mariachi Band is scheduled at all locations throughout the week.
Dona Maria Tamales
Dona Maria Tamales offers many of the same menu selections as other authentic Mexican restaurants in Las Vegas, aside from the tamales. Dona Maria Tamales is known for chicken and red pork tamales that customers claim are the best north of Mexico. Other popular menu items include menudo, sopa, and nachos. With only one location in downtown Las Vegas, the restaurant is one of a kind.
Frank & Fina’s Cocina
Frank & Fina’s Cocina is another one of a kind restaurant with a single location off W. Flamingo Rd. and the 215. The Las Vegas Review Journal listed the restaurants as one of the best in Las Vegas. Food selections include Chili Relleno, Rolled Taquitos, and Carnitas. Fresh ingredients and homemade tortillas set this restaurant apart, but it is the margaritas that keep locals coming back for more. Frank & Fina’s Cocina specialize in mango, banana, and strawberry margaritas. In addition to being open to the public seven days a week, the restaurant also offers full-service catering with a “Mexican flair.”
Serrano’s Mexican Fast Food
Fast food is not normally synonymous with Mexican cuisine, but Serrano’s Mexican Fast Food is a great melding of both. Located in Summerlin, Serrano’s offers a classic Mexican menu with hard shell tacos, carnitas, and burritos. Locals love the fact that service is quick with most tables served and out in less than 30 minutes.
Anyone visiting Las Vegas can take a long ride around the 215 and circle the entire city looking for authentic Mexican food. Inside that circle, hidden from the floods of tourist traffic are three local restaurants residents do not want visitors to know about. Lindo Michoacan, Dona Maria Tamales, Serrano’s Mexican Fast Food, and Frank & Fina’s Cocina each offer great food, great service, and affordable prices.
