Emerging Electro-Pop/R&B singer and Duke University graduate Mike Posner is a musical artist to watch in 2010. A year after releasing his album Matter of Time on iTunes, listeners began to take notice of Posner’s voice and talent. Matter of Time featured the current top 40 hit “Cooler Than Me“, along with his own renditions of Beyonce’s “Halo” and The Fray’s “Over My Head“. Due to the popular success of Matter of Time on iTunes, Posner eventually signed a recording contract with J Records. Mike Posner’s latest album 31 Minutes To Takeoff will be the first album released on his label J Records. The album is slated to be released August 10, 2010. The album features a newer version of his previous hit “Cooler Than Me” along with 11 other tracks containing Pop, Electro-Pop, and R&B tunes.
2nd Avenue, the latest album from Alt-Rock/Country band No Justice, debuted at #53 on the Billboard Country Charts and #22 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart. Their hit “Love Song” was made available for download on the popular interactive game Rock Band. The members of No Justice have had continued success in Texas, as they have had two #1 singles on the Texas Music Charts and 7 independent top 10 hits. No Justice have expanded their touring to reach places outside of Texas and Oklahoma, playing over 200 venues within a year.
New Orleans native Troy ‘Trombone Shorty’ Andrews is another musician/artist to watch in 2010. He mixes Jazz with Rock, Funk, Hip-Hop, and Soul music. His concerts are those of high-energetic performances. While highly skilled in the Trombone, Trombone Shorty also inspires listeners with his wide range of vocals. His current album Backatown peaked at #6 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart and debuted at #1 on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Albums Chart. Recently, Trombone Shorty’s single “Hurricane Season” was chosen as the theme song for MTV’s The Real World: New Orleans.
With vocals comparable to musicians Johnny Lang and Marc Broussard, UK Pop/Soul singer Daniel Merriweather is becoming an International artist to watch in 2010. In 2009, his Pop/Electronic/Soul-infused debut album Love And War reached #2 on the UK Albums Chart. The album spawned two hit tracks called “Change” and “Red“. Due to success of his music in the UK and abroad, Daniel Merriweather captured listeners’ attention stateside. In 2010, Merriweather released his U.S. version of Love And War on J Records. Due to the success of his album release, Merriweather has appeared on many late night shows and interviewed with several notable magazines.
