These are my top 4 coolest jobs to have. While some may disagree with my list, there are people who do these top 4 coolest jobs for a living and love their jobs.
1. Animator at Pixar
This is one of the top coolest jobs I think is out there. Where in the world can you take a 2-D thought and turn it into a 3-D animated cartoon that makes millions of dollars and millions of people laugh? At Pixar, of course. Even if the 3-D animation is a short story being featured before a full-length Pixar film, the creating of it has to be a huge deal for the creators of the short story and film.
2. Owning Multimillion Dollar Internet Company
My second choice for the coolest job to have is owning a multimillion dollar internet company. Sure there would have to be an office with employees to help run this multimillion dollar company that came to you while sitting in your living room or college dorm room.
Who would have thunk that an idea like Zappo’s, Amazon.com, and Associated Content would have taken off like gang busters from the three guys who thought these types of internet companies would be a great way to be your own boss, start your own business, and live the American Dream? Well, I would say Tony Hseih, Jeff Bezos, and Luke Beatty would think it’s the coolest way to live the American Dream.
3. Crab Fisherman
Sure if you watch “Deadliest Catch” like I do, you may think that’s one of the coolest jobs in the world to have. I think it’s a cool job to have, but it’s not one I want to do after watching “Deadliest Catch.” I will leave this cool job to the pros and eat their bounty. Yup, color me chicken on this cool job.
Even the cameramen have a cool job with “Deadliest Catch.” Again, not the cool job I want since I am afraid of water, boats, sharks, storms, and drowning. Did I mention I hate motion sickness? For the cameramen of “Deadliest Catch,” I will leave this cool job to you guys because you would just have to color me green on this one.
4. Storm Chaser
Yep, I have watched a few storm chasers on the internet and television. You know those guys that chase tornadoes? I think that’s a cool job, too. However, since I mentioned I’m scared of storms, not a great cool job for me.
I do think it’s a cool job to have. I have watched Mike Phelps, one of the local Kansas storm chasers, on the internet a few times since Christmas Day 2009. Christmas Day? Yes, Mike Phelps and one of his storm chasing friends, decided to chase the snow storm that socked Oklahoma City and Norman on Christmas Day.
I have watched Mike Phelps and the Chicago Chasers recently. They were chasing tornadoes in North Central Oklahoma and South Central Kansas during the same period the Vortex Team was filming their second year of tornado chases for the Weather Channel.
I figured watching a tornado develop and destroy a small town 5 miles north of where I lived when I was a kid was enough tornado watching for me. Still a cool job, but one I will leave for the pros and those trained to storm chase.
Never let your dreams die. You may be the guy who creates the next big animated movie, starts the next multimillion dollar internet company, catches the biggest fish haul or saves thousands of lives due to your dream.
