So who are the hottest teen music idols out there in the celebrity scene? Teen musicians are taking the music world by storm, from Disney star Mitchell Muso to teen heartthrobs the Jonas Brothers. And with new teen celebs being discovered every day, like pop star Justin Bieber, the music world had better get ready for teen sensations. Not only are these teens talented, but they have managed to avoid the infamous Disney-Child-Pop-Idol curse that has plagued former Mickey Mouse girls Brittney Spears, Lindsey Lohan, and more recently, even squeaky clean Hannah Montana (Miley Cyrus).
The Youtube online webstar now turned American teen music pop idol, Canadian Justin Bieber has managed to woo teen girls everywhere with his innocent boy-next-door demeanor, light voice, and unassuming persona. Justin has enjoyed some popularity on the small screen, as well, with guest appearances on Saturday Night Live and Ellen.
Selena Gomez, Disney darling of the Wizards of Waverly Place and singer, is talented both on and off the stage. More than just an actor, the teen also sings with her music group Selena Gomez & The Scene, which released their debut album, “Kiss and Tell” in 2009.
According to Teen Music.com, Kriistiniana DeBarge, daughter of 1980s pop idol James DeBarge, didn’t let her dad know that she wanted to be a singer until she hit adolescence, although she had had aspirations of musical stardom since toddlerhood. The 19 year old singer confessed to Teen Music, “I want my fans to know that I am just like them…I’m not perfect, I make mistakes. I am just like them. And that’s okay.”
Disney’s Jonas Brothers, with their clean looks and Promise rings in tow, have succeeded to woo and wow teen and tween girls all over America. Though definitely appealing for young girls (and their moms, who are happy to be able to take their impressionable girls to relatively “clean”, albeit market-saturated, concerts), the Jonas Brothers have managed to maintain their innocent personas amid dizzying fame and fortune.
Texas born Singer Demi Lovato, one of Disney’s teen sensations, is best known for acting in Disney’s “Camp Rock” movie franchise and for her debut album, which scored high on the Billboard charts when first released.
Besides acting on the Hannah Montana cast, Mitchell Muso also enjoys a relatively successful music career, helped by his Disney affiliations. Another Texas native on our list, Mitchell has enjoyed the popularity of his singles “Lean on me,” and “If I didn’t have you.” What’s next for Muso? More music, of course, and perhaps another sweet acting deal with Disney.
Jordan Pruiss released her single, “No Ordinary Girl.” Promoted on Radio Disney, Pruitt has enjoyed fame among the younger teen set.
Touring the American Idol tour was a dream come true for this Canadian singer. Known for her rocking Janis Joplin cover, Iraheta aspired to be on American Idol a few years before she finally made her grand appearance before judges. Currently Allison is touring with the American Idols tour.
Another group being marketed by Disney includes KSM, an all-girl group of teenage pop stars who incorporate their rocking instrumentals and vocals with typical Disney slosh. Let’s just hope these girls have an opportunity to share their talents outside the auspices of Big Brother Disney.
Although Taylor has left her teenage years behind, one can’t ignore the country star’s amazing fame and popularity among teens and adults alike. Wowing audiences everywhere, even on SNL with her famous “This is my SNL monologue…or Lalalala”, Taylor has proven to be a great example to young girls everywhere, showing that being incredibly popular and famous doesn’t have to make you lose your self-respect.
