“TITLE of SHOW” the Cult Classic Has a New Title and a New Life!

by itchyfish

If you follow Broadway shows and the New York city scene you may remember the odd title ” Title of Show” and maybe you were lucky enough to witness it.

It was a show about creating a Broadway show, ” Life imitating Art” and despite it’s flaws ( Most regretably, in my opinion the music was not terribly inspiring) however…. It was really captivating and enjoyable in it’s own unique way.

Playbill.com announced that ” Title of Show” is back and thank goodness they have changed the title and reworked it with more songs. I am hoping the songs will be as good as the script. ( The script won several awards including best original score.

Here’s the scoop from Andew Gans.

And Now This Is Happening, From [title of show] Creators, to Have Developmental Production in 2011

In spring 2011 Off-Broadway’s Vineyard Theatre will present a developmental lab production of And Now This Is Happening, a new theatre piece conceived and written by the creators and stars of [title of show]. ;

The new piece – created by Hunter Bell, Michael Berresse, Susan Blackwell, Heidi Bickenstaff, Jeff Bowen and Larry Pressgrove – will feature original music by Bowen, Blackwell and Pressgrove. Michael Berresse will direct the production with musical direction and arrangements by Larry Pressgrove.

No additional information about the new work has been announced.

[title of show] – the new musical that, according to a fan-favorite song in the show, would rather be nine people’s favorite thing than 100 people’s ninth favorite thing – played its final performance at the Lyceum Theatre Oct. 12, 2008. Following runs at the New York Musical Theatre Festival in 2004 and the Vineyard Theatre in 2006, the entire original cast – including co-creators Jeff Bowen (score) and Hunter Bell (book) as well as co-stars Susan Blackwell and Heidi Blickenstaff – made the leap to the Broadway stage. A Chorus Line‘s Michael Berresse, who helmed the acclaimed Off-Broadway run, also directed the Broadway version, which featured musical director-arranger Larry Pressgrove onstage playing the electric keyboard. The musical was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical (Bell).

The non-profit Vineyard Theatre is located at 108 East 15th Street in Manhattan. For more information visit www.vineyardtheatre.org.
