Tips for Throwing a Wii Fit Party

by itchy fish

When I think of a Wii Fit party, I think of old times with friends doing Billy Blanks’ Tae Bo in the living room while someone prepared healthy snacks for when we were done. Now the Nintendo Wii gives you the same types of opportunities but with even more interactivity. One of the best ways to get everyone together and enjoy some healthy fun times is with a Wii Fit party. You can easily host one yourself and encourage your friends to keep up the trend.

Here are some tips for throwing a Wii Fit party:

Plan a time when all of your friends or family can meet

Include guests who have not played before as this could be a great experience

Host gets to pick the first activity and the winner of the activity gets to pick the next and so on. There are more than 40 activities, including:

-Yoga

-Balance

-Strength training

-Aerobics

-And more

Allow the guests opportunity to set up their Mii

-Start with a personal profile

-Enter height and get your weight with the balance board

-Learn your BMI and Wii Fit age

-Take some initial tests to determine left and right balance

Once this is all set up, your party can have personalized stats and information that will be there each time you gather again for a Wii Fit party. This can be one of the best ways to lose weight and spend some quality time with your friends at the same time.

Here are some ways that you can incorporate games and activities into your Wii Fit party to help keep all of your guests involved with the experience:

Have a balance board competition to see who can balance the longest. Allow the winners of smaller groups to then playoff for an overall winner.

Who can hold a yoga pose the longest? Work up to more difficult poses in increments and see if your friends can keep up.

Create a tournament that incorporates the activities in the Wii Fit. For example, you could pick the top 4 activities and have everyone compete to do them the best, and then create an “Iron Man” style phase where each member of the party runs through them all and you total the final scores to get a winner.

Create teams in the sports co-op modes and allow the teams to then compete with one another to see which team can come out on top.

Compete in Olympic Winter Games and award prizes in the varying events and activities.

Race one another in snowboarding games or compete for who can do the most/best tricks on the slopes. (Shaun White Snowboarding Road Trip is a must-have).

Here is what you will need for a Wii Fit party:

A Wii and a TV for playing with up to 4 players

Multiple TV setups and Wiis for more than 4 players (if someone who is coming has a Wii as well, you could set up stations and play with more people)

Wii Fit game and/or bundle

Any related accessories to make the activities more fun – ask your guests to bring theirs. Some accessories include:

-Wii golf club

-Wii balance board

-Wii tennis racket

-Wii baseball bat

-Wii steering wheel

-Wii controller grips

Water for staying hydrated and healthy snacks for after the fun

You and your friends may have so much fun that you decide to plan one every week. You can even rotate who hosts the party each time and get regular, weekly exercise in that is essential for everyone’s health. Who knew getting fit could be so much fun?
