Try as they might mainstream media (MSM) just could not hope the Times Square bomber into being a Tea Partier. What a shame. From the moment the incident broke and the video of the guy talking off his outer shirt arose, the tone in the voices of MSM was a clear “impression” the bomber was a Tea Partier.
When I first saw the grainy video of the guy taking off the one shirt, putting it in his backpack, and walking away I could see and hear in their voices what was coming. Media did their best to paint the picture and to make sure to pronounce in no uncertain terms that the “suspect” in the captured video was a lily white guy. The “he’s a disgruntled Tea Partier” hope against hope began to seep out, although I cannot recall any specific mention of those exact words, but still, the hope was a palpable one.
Then reality presented itself. The bomber was a Muslim feller. And guess what. All over MSM came the refrain that “the poor economy drove him to it” type sentiments. Little admission that he might have an axe to grind against the US. No, instead it’s convenient to paint the recession – it happened under Bush’s watch, ya know – as the culprit to drive otherwise patriotic newly minted Americans to terrorism. Damn that Bush! Even now, almost 17 months after Bush exited the stage, still, he harms this nation!
The deflation of the hopeful MSM is a joy to watch. No matter how hard they try their hold over the nation’s information is no longer exclusive. Conservative and alternative media sources have exposed them for the world to see. There are stories out of UK papers as to how biased MSM in America seems to be. They accurately position public polling results versus the impression MSM would like to be taken away from those polls. People an ocean away can see and grasp things the local progressives just can’t.
This is a major turn of events. Just 18 months ago the future of the nation was bleak. Progressive media had so well forwarded Obama’s message for him that the Hopey Change Bandwagon was bursting at the seams. But within a few days of his moving into the Oval Office Obama revealed who he really is and what he was about. No matter what he said or did, MSM had his back.
No matter how up in arms citizens became, MSM countered it with derision of Bush or openly attaching racist motives if anyone dared question or openly attack the Obama agenda. The progressive Congress had his back, willing to sell a nation asunder to make sure the first Black president was successful. They exposed themselves with pleas to pass Obamacare were “we can’t let Obama fail on this – it will destroy his presidency.” Progressive leaders favored destroying a nation’s finances to save a man’s legacy? Yeah, they sure have demonstrated they are American patriots!
MSM have been exposed for, here comes those alliterations my readers so love (not), a foul, fetid and festering malignancy. It’s not just the ideals that are so opposite those of traditional American manners of doing business and politics, and they are, but it is really more their manners of trying to get their ideology to the fore. Decency is a concept unfamiliar to this crop of MSM, and some of their sycophant followers seem okay with it too.
If MSM had been “fair and balanced” and acted as the neutral “Fourth Estate” I can safely predict the current rise of progressive political thought would have never gotten nearly as far as it has. MSM is partially to blame for the straights we now find ourselves in – explosive budgets, unwanted and unneeded reforms and all the rest – because instead of doing their jobs, oversight of government, they became active cheerleaders for the agenda. And now as Jeremiah Wright said “Their chickens have come home to roost.” The stock values of MSM companies plummets; viewership on CNN, the broadcast networks and the GE owned MSNBC drops to infinitesimal levels, yet still they worked their tails off to sell a bill of goods to a nation. Good business plan!
The final nail in the progressive coffin is the media’s reaction to the Times Square bomb attempt. One can turn to almost any channel and the deflated sounds from the news mouthpieces are palpable. They were hoping against hope the bomb planter was not a dude named Faisal, but instead went by Bubba or some such. The media sounds as disappointed as when they found out Kerry lost to Bush. There is a certain “insanity” in the air. I will resist the childish urge to close with a “haha.” Oh, wait . . . too late now I guess.
