Music videos are a very popular thing for an artist to put out since it can often help the listener understand the meaning behind the song. Music videos can be funny or sad depending on the situation in the song, and some can even be movie parodies. Music videos that parody a movie are often funny and the artist is usually heavily-influenced by that movie. A lot of music videos can be considered movie parodies but there are some that are just way more noticeable than others. If you are looking for some of the best movie parodies in a music video, then you need to look on YouTube where a lot of the videos are located. With so many music videos parodying a movie, it is so hard to choose some of the best. Here are three music videos that parody movies that will have you laughing and crying at the same time.
30 Seconds to Mars – The Kill
30 Seconds to Mars The Kill is an excellent music video that is a parody of a movie. This music video parodies the movie “The Shining” which is an excellent horror film from the 1980’s. Jared Leto, who is the lead singer for the group is also an actor who has played in several films and uses his acting skills to recreate “The Shining” movie. I really like Jared Leto as an actor and think he has incredible skills to recreate the hotel scene from “The Shining” and think he parodies the movie very well. Although he might not be the best singer, he really does know how to act and uses techniques to non-verbally communicate. This music video is a great movie parody because it takes one of the best parts of “The Shining” and just makes it really fun and entertaining. The fact that the whole entire music video is devoted to “The Shining” and it parodies it all the way through makes it one of the best.
2Pac- California Love
No one can parody a classic movie better in their music video than 2Pac did with his song California Love. 2Pac is a legend among many people in the music community, and he really showed off his skills in the still-raging hit California Love. This music video which was set in 2095, parodies “Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome” and was even filmed using the same set. This music video was filmed about a year before the untimely death of 2Pac so it lives on as one of the last music videos he ever did. The set is outrageous with fire and girls hanging around and it just is amazing. Even if you do not like rap music, 2Pac really showed his artistic side by doing a parody influenced by the “Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome” movie. This music video was so influenced by that movie that it is understandable why 2Pac wanted the same set used during the filming. There is no better way to pay homage to a movie than to use the same exact set as the movie, which just makes this one of the best music video parodies of a movie ever.
Fountains of Wayne – Stacy’s Mom
There is no music video out there that so obviously is parodying a movie better than Stacy’s Mom by Fountains of Wayne. This music video is an obvious parody of the 1982 movie “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” which was a teen romance and comedy movie. The video uses Rachel Hunter as the famous role of Lolita from the film and shows her doing all of these tasks while the young boy looks on. This music video is just hilarious since the boy in the video seems so young and the woman is just flirting and being a tease. There are a lot of little hidden sexual innuendos in Stacy’s Mom that are often similar to the innuendos seen from the movie. This music video makes the list because everyone remembers the 1980’s teen comedy “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” and remembers the specific scenes in the movie that this video is based off of. It is just a funny parody of a cheesy teen comedy movie that we have all seen and probably spent time thinking about.
