The spring is a great time to go on dates. During the winter, you’re mostly confined to indoors. In the spring, though, the weather gets nicer. Take advantage of the longer, warmer days with these great springtime dates.
Go On A Picnic
Rather than going out to eat in a restaurant, why not go on a picnic? You can combine this with hiking or visiting beautiful areas near you (the beach, mountains, etc.). Even if you live in the middle of a big city, there are parks where you can enjoy a picnic.
This can be as casual or nice as you want. For casual (and cheap!) dates, just make a picnic yourself with basics: sandwiches, etc. You can buy or make fancier picnic food, or some restaurants even sell picnic hampers full of more gourmet meals.
Make sure to bring a blanket to sit on, and maybe something for entertainment. If you can play guitar (banjo, etc.), bring it along and serenade your date. Consider bringing a pack of cards to play, or just have fun and play frisbee or fly a kite.
I love picnics because it offers a relaxed atmosphere, and you can really spend time together and talk to each other (unlike in the cinema, for example, where you’re just sitting next to each other).
Visit A Garden
Spring is a beautiful, romantic time of year partially because all of the plants are coming back to life. Everything seems greener, and many plants are in flower during the spring. This makes it a great time to visit a garden for a date. It’s very romantic to stroll along surrounded by a beautiful garden.
Most cities have gardens in them. Some are private, but many are charitable. Most will have a small entry fee; the bigger and better known and more exotic a garden is, the more expensive it will probably be. Some botanical gardens have butterfly houses as well: very romantic.
One small warning with this idea. Make sure beforehand that your date doesn’t have problems with hay fever or pollen allergies.
Go Swimming
In the spring, it’s great to feel the first strong sun of the year and enjoy hot days. It really makes you want to put winter behind you. One great way to do that is to go swimming. I wouldn’t recommend this for a first date, but if you’ve been on several dates already or want something different for date night with your partner, going swimming could make a great date. (Just make sure that your date feels comfortable being in a swimsuit in front of you).
It’s probably still too cold to go swimming outside, but there are plenty of indoor swimming pools you can go to. To make it more exciting, go swimming at a spa that also has a hot tub or other facilities that you can enjoy together.
This is a great choice for a rainy spring day. Even if it’s rainy and cool outside, you can still feel summery.
