Newark’s Liberty International Airport is one of the world’s busiest airports. Having travelled through Newark Airport more times than I can count, I consider myself something of an expert on finding things to do while waiting for a flight in Newark’s bustling Liberty Airport. Here is a guide to the many Newark Airport restaurants and shops.
Newark Airport Restaurants
The greatest number of restaurants and shops are located in Liberty Airport’s Terminal C. If you are waiting in Newark Airport for one of the many late evening international flights, I recommend heading to Gallagher’s Steak House for a steak dinner that will be much better than anything served on the plane (even in business class). At Gallagher’s Steak House, you can enjoy a relaxed meal along with a glass of wine, which is one of the best ways to pass an hour or two while waiting for your flight to board.
Sam Adams Old Time New England Tavern, which has locations in Newark Airport’s Terminals B and C, is another good choice for food and drinks. Here you can wait out your flight delay at the bar while enjoying the game along with a draft beer.
For those who prefer coffee to beer, head to Starbucks and enjoy one of their many varieties of coffee confections. You may wish to head to Hudson News first and pick up a few magazines to peruse while sipping your coffee and waiting for your flight to board.
Liberty Airport Fast Food Restaurants
Like most airports, Newark’s Liberty Airport boasts many fast food restaurants. In Newark’s Terminal C, you will find Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs, Au Bon Pain, Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream, Americo’s Pizza, McDonald’s, and Miami Subs. In Newark’s Terminals A and B, you will find McDonald’s and Pizzeria Uno, as well as a Sam Adams Bar (Terminal B).
Newark Airport Shops
Shopping is another way to while away time when waiting for your flight. Newark Airport has many fine shops to browse. There is duty-free shopping located in both Terminals B and C. Borders Book Store is located in Terminals A and C. One of my favorite shops to browse is the Smithsonian Treasures of the World, which is located in Terminal C. The Metropolitan Museum of Arts store is another fun place to browse. If you have children to shop for, you may want to browse the children’s shop Creative Kidstuff. There are many other fine shops located at Newark Airport, which means you can do much of your souvenir shopping while waiting out a delay.
Get a Shoe Shine or Massage
If you are stuck in Newark Airport and do not feel like dining or shopping, there are still several options. You can always stop for a shoeshine. While many think that an airport shoeshine is just for the businessman traveler, I have often stopped to have my boots or black heels shined. It is convenient and cheap to have it done at the airport. Another place to stop while waiting out a delay at Newark Airport is Departure Spa in Terminal C, where you can have a quick manicure or enjoy a massage.
While being stuck in an airport can be tiresome, there are many things to do to pass time while stuck in Newark’s Liberty International Airport.
