The Very Best Brand of Hair Dye to Use from Home

by itchyfish

First, I’d like to start off by letting you know I have been dying my hair since I was 12 years old. I have used almost every box brand and color that they sell at walmart. Some are okay but most do not turn out anything like they show on the box.

Revlon, since I first used it, I have not used any other brand of hair dye. It is by far the best in all aspects. Not only is it cheaper then all the other hair dyes, it actually turns your hair the color that the box says. For example, I was going to dye my hair from blonde to red I wanted a rich bright red so I bought L’Oreal Paris Feria #77 Bright Auburn. If you’ve seen the red its beautiful, but thats not the color I got. The color I got was the color shown on Revlons box as Burgandy #48, which if you haven’t seen is purple, not red. I will never buy that brand again. So I noticed when I went back to the store to buy another color to fix my hair that Revlon showed the color my hair turned as burgandy not auburn and the auburn they had was a beautiful natural looking red. So long story short I stripped the purple dye out and was ready to try again so I bought Revlon’s Bright Auburn, and my hair turned out exactly how it showed on the box. Since then I have dyed my hair brown, black, and blonde using Revlon and they have all turned out like it is shown on the box.

For the record, L’Oreal is not the only brand that doesn’t turn your hair the color shown, they almost all don’t. That was just one of the really bad experiences for me. I highly recommend that if you are going to dye your hair from home to use Revlon. The only down side is that they dont have the best selection of color, its pretty basic. But atleast they are honest and wont show you a color that you can’t really achieve. Not to mention they are cheaper, for a box of Revlon hair dye it costs approximately $4.00. For L’Oreal Its about $10.00 a box and other brands are even more expensive. I have really long hair, down to the middle of my back, so I buy about 4 boxes of Revlon and it costs me around $16.00. But for the same amount of dye I’d have to buy 4 boxes of the other brand and spend almost $50.00 for a mystery hair color.

I hope that this review saves somebody from making the same horrible mistakes I have made. If you want a different color then the basic red, blonde, black, or brown, (like the color shown on L’Oreals box) then I can only suggest that you get it down professionally so that you actually recieve what you pay for. Also for your sake do a strand test before you put the color all over your hair, it will save your hair, time and money.
