Huntsville, Alabama has a growing restaurant scene and a few establishments have the right combination of food and ambiance to promote a romantic evening. While romance knows no particular budget, candlelight, semi-secluded booths and a menu that is not too messy seem to enhance a couple’s night out. I could not include the restaurant where I met my husband, O’Charley’s, because it probably is only romantic to us for sentimental reasons. Getting a little dressed up for a romantic night out without the kids is a wonderful way to celebrate a relationship and this list will help couples in Huntsville decide on the venue. My top three picks for the most romantic restaurants in Huntsville are the D & L Bistro, Connor’s Steak and Seafood, and the Bonefish Grill.
D & L Bistro
D & L Bistro is located on South Memorial Parkway. At night, strings of lights illuminate both the downstairs and the upstairs seating areas. The service is friendly, the food is wonderful, and the salads are brought out with chilled forks. My husband and I have been going to the D & L Bistro on special occasions since its opening in 2002.
Connor’s Steak and Seafood
Connor’s is a relatively new addition to the Huntsville scene, located in the popular Bridge Street Town Centre off of Research Park Blvd. Its wood floors, diversified menu, beautiful fireplace, and friendly service provide romantic embellishment. The bar is a great place to wait for a table and bartender Stephen Blossom serves them up with amazing speed and friendliness.
Bonefish Grill is fun and modern. The lighting is perfectly dim, the booths provide privacy and the food and service are wonderful.
Honorable mentions, past and present:
When my husband and I first moved to Huntsville in 2001, our restaurant of choice for special occasions was the now defunct Café Paris, despite its emphasis on seafood. O’Charley’s will always be in our hearts. The Outback is certainly fun on a date night, but, somehow, stuffing one’s self does not seem particularly romantic. The Fog Cutter restaurant was romantic until its closing.
Huntsville’s restaurant scene is constantly changing and growing. A couple need not drive to Birmingham or Nashville for a special night out. While a trip to McDonald’s can be romantic with the right attitude, any restaurant on this list can work magic, even if it only lasts the night.
