The Top Natural Deodorants

by itchyfish

Going green is the thing to do now to help save our earth and to help the environment. There are many “green” cleaning products out that help with that. But have you thought about “going green” when it comes to what you put in or on your body? Many substances may be harmful for your body that you may not even know about. How about the deodorant you use? What is a natural deodorant and which ones are out there? First, let’s look at things to look for in your search for the best ones.

When you are looking for a natural deodorant, here are a few ingredients to avoid. Aluminum compounds, aerosol products, synthetic fragrances, and parabens, which is a synthetic preservative that has been researched and found that it may disrupt the hormone system. Parebens are found in thousands of cosmetics and personal care items. Also look for chemicals such as Hydroquinone, diethanolamine and coal tar. These chemicals should be avoided if at all possible in your search.

Now what should you look for on the back of the product? Look for third party certified organic or natural products, deodorants that come in recyclable packaging, and products that have been certified by Leaping Bunny, which is a coalition for consumer information on cosmetics. Another thing to keep in mind is that if you can’t read it or understand what the ingredient is, then it is most likely something that you want to avoid. These chemicals have the potential to harm adults and teenagers. There has been talk of links between breast cancer and Alzheimer’s but not proven. So, what natural deodorants work the best to keep you dry and odor free, especially in the summer?

They also use echo conscious packaging and can display the 100% certified natural seal. The price is set at $22.95 for 1.7 oz size. This is one of the more expensive products but it this one is at the top of the list in being 100% chemical free.

Weleda products have been around for a while. They have never used any synthetic chemicals in their products. The deodorants are scented with all natural ingredients and come in non aerosol sprays that are in the price range of $12.00 to $16.00. They come in sage, citrus and wild rose scents. These products can be found at Target, Whole Foods and at some health food stores. Of course, you can order them online, too.
