2010 has been an eventful year for gaming with the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360’s move towards motion gaming, 3D gaming hitting the scene, and a host of great titles. Following are the top 5 most anticipated games on the way to the gaming scene in 2010.
Halo: Reach is the 6th installment of the highly popular Halo gaming series, which has grossed over $1.7 billion and has sold over 34 million copies worldwide. Halo 3 had a record breaking $170 million worth of copies sold within the first 24 hours of its launch and Halo: Reach is set to do great things as well by preselling close to 1 million copies with several weeks until it’s due on store shelves.
Halo: Reach is a FPS alien style game and will introduce lots of new features to the beloved Halo franchise including jetpacks, Forge World, more armor permutation, and increased gameplay. Halo: Reach is guaranteed to be a success and is one of the most anticipated games of 2010.
LittleBigPlanet is a game that’s hard to fit in just one genre box – is it an adventure game, a puzzler, or a platform game? Regardless of what you classify the LittleBigPlanet (LBP) series, one thing is for sure; this gaming franchise is well received and loved by millions.
LittleBigPlanet 2 is the follow up to the critically acclaimed 2008 release, LittleBigPlanet, and gamers can’t wait to get their hands on this game. LittleBigPlanet 2 will give gamers everything they loved about first LittleBigPlanet games, but will also add cool new levels and customization that gamers are bound to love.
Metroid: Other M
Metroid along with Super Mario, Link, Kirby, and Donkey Kong is one of Nintendo’s go-to franchises and has been on the gaming scene for almost 25 years. Metroid has been a great cash cow for Nintendo and it’s last two releases, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and Metroid Prime: Trilogy, are cult classic games for the Nintendo Wii and Metroid is one of the only respected hardcore gamer gaming franchises on the highly casual Nintendo Wii. With the success of the last two Metroid games, lots of fans are looking to see what cool new features and awesome gameplay will be added in the latest Metroid game, Metroid: Other M.
Call of Duty: Black Ops
While Halo reigns supreme at the top of the FPS genre charts – in terms of sales – the Call of Duty franchise is by no means a pushover FPS series and has some impressive sales figures of its own. Call of Duty: Black Ops will add cool new features to the Call of Duty franchise like giving players the ability to pilot aircraft, dismember opponents, having access to lots of vehicles, and lots of other cool features.
When Fable hit the gaming scene September 2004, there was nothing like it on the gaming market. Fable is a full open ended 3D role-player game with lots of quests, assignments, skills, and a host of crazy townspeople – and enemies. Fable and Fable II has taken the gaming world by storm and Fable III is set to do the same by giving the player more control over the entire Fable world – deciding on laws, taxation, how to deal with poverty, etc. – enhanced graphics and putting a different spin on the Fable franchise. Lots of gamers are looking forward to getting yet another Fable game and Fable III is definitely one of 2010’s most anticipated games.
