Lebron James is a basketball star for the Cleveland Cavaliers. He is a 2 time NBA MVP, 6 time NBA All-Star, and a 2 time NBA All Star game MVP. Lebron is arguably the best player to ever play professional basketball. There is much anticipation on where Lebron will go following the 2010 season. All signs point to him staying in Cleveland, but rumors have been spread that the New York Knicks are very interested in the all star.
Lebron was born in Akron, Ohio is 1984. He attended high school at St. Vincent-St.Mary High School. Lebron was a multi sport star. He excelled in basketball and football but decided to fully commit himself to basketball following his sophomore season. Many speculate that Lebron could have played college football at the college of his choice anywhere in the nation. Lebron started on the basketball team when he was a freshman. He averaged around 21 points per game and was the leader of a team who went on to win the Division III championship.
James came back in better shape than he had ever been in for his sophomore season. He worked out all summer following his freshman season and it paid off in a short amount of time. Lebron averaged over 25 points per game during his sophomore year and the Fighting Irish won their second straight Division III title. He was the first sophomore to ever be named Ohio’s “Mr. Basketball”. He was also a member of the USA Today All-USA First Team.
St. Vincent-St. Mary was forced to move up to Division II (harder than Division III) following James sophomore year. He had an outstanding year, averaging over 29 points and was named Ohio’s “Mr. Basketball” one again. The Fighting Irish did not retain their championship title however, after losing to Roger Bacon High School.
James’s best year came when he was a senior in high school. He averaged 31.6 points and almost 10 rebounds per game. He was also selected as Ohio’s “Mr. Basketball” for the third year in a row. He attended the Mcdonald’s All American game and was named the MVP.
James was selected with the first overall pick by the Cleveland Cavaliers and instantly turned the franchise around. He had a breakout rookie season and was named Rookie of the Year. Although the Cavs failed to make the playoffs in Lebron’s first year they won 18 more games than they had the previous year.
James is now a more developed player than he ever has been in his career. He has won two straight NBA MVP titles and has led his team to outstanding records for the past two years. Lebron is the most recognized name in all of basketball and he constantly reminds us why he is so popular. He is the most electrifying player the NBA has seen since Michael Jordan and may break several of Jordan’s records by the time he is done.
