If you’re thinking about adding a new furry member to your family, one of the first places you should look is an animal shelter. These shelters rescue animals (mainly kittens/cats and puppies/dogs) that haven’t had the greatest start to life and save them from even more torture and abuse. However, these shelters rely fully on people to either adopt or foster these animals. The Salt Lake City Animal Services Shelter in Salt Lake City, Utah is a great place to start your search. It’s the largest shelter in the area, and has numerous great features, as detailed below.
First, they provide on-site vaccinations with no appointment necessary, which saves a great deal of time trying to find a vet, schedule an appointment, etc. It also saves a great deal of money, because the vaccinations range from only $10-$35 (on average) depending on the vaccine. For a complete list of the vaccinations they provide, and pricing, please click here.
The Pit Stop
The Pit Stop is a new store, located inside the SLC Animal Services Shelter, and features everything you’ll need for your new family member (or current pet) with things like collars, leashes, toys, kitty litter, food, and much more. The best part is all the proceeds go to benefit the SLC Animal Services Shelter. So, you’re shopping for a great cause.
Spaying and neutering your pets is important to control the over-population of animals, many of whom end up being put to sleep each year. To promote spaying and neutering your pets, the SLC Animal Services Shelter has created a service called The Big Fix which is a mobile spay/neutering clinic that provides great prices on getting your pet fixed. If you qualify, you may even be eligible for free spay/neuter services through the Big Fix program. For more information about The Big Fix, you can check out their website here or call 866-PETS-FIX (866-738-7349).
