Located in Janesville, Wisconsin at 1455 Palmer Drive is the Rotary Botanical Gardens. I think that this place would be the perfect place for a wedding. It is just absolutely beautiful.
We first got to see this place last year when one of my friends got married last summer. I was in awe with the entire area. It was the perfect location for romance and made for some amazing wedding pictures.
The Rotary Botanical Gardens is located on 20 acres and is a non-profit botanic garden. Throughout the area you will find many different themed gardens with bright colorful flowers. There are the Japanese, Scottish, French Formal, Italian and English Cottage Gardens. They are each unique in their own way.
Also on the grounds is a visitor center where you can get all the information that you want to know about the gardens, a gift shop to buy souvenirs and flower seeds at, and an amazing facility to have either a wedding reception, reunion or a meeting at. It has 4 individual rooms 19 feet by 31 feet or it can be converted to 2 rooms or 1 room depending on how big your party is and has large windows for a great view of the gardens.
If you are looking to have an outdoor wedding instead they have 3 beautiful gardens to choose from. The French Formal Rose Gardens is where my friend chose to have her wedding and by far it was my favorite.
This is a formal garden situated on the part of the garden that overlooks the small pond. You will be surrounded by pink, white, yellow and red roses, cherub angel statues, and granite urns filled with amazing flowers. In the background you will see a water fountain spraying water straight up in the air and at night lights make it glow.
The Pennsylvania bluestone pathway the curves through the garden is outlined with formal boxwoods and yews. There were 2 pergolas, which are shaded walkway structures that are supported by large pillars, had 4 hanging baskets on each of them. These led you to the focal point of the front of the garden. Overall it is very romantic and picturesque.
The Gazebo Garden is the informal garden space and is located on the eastern edge of the pond. The gazebo is really the only focal point of the garden and has different colored plants hanging from it. Across the pond you see the red arched Japanese bridge that crosses the pond. You are surrounded by the woods here. Not as elegant as the French Gardens, but I think it would be nice for a family reunion or birthday party. There was lots of open space here.
Last but not least was the Sunken Garden. The focal point of this garden is a rectangular piece of lawn, which they mowed at an angle so it looked really neat, that is framed with a brick walkway. The walkway is lined with benches, water fountains, and it is said that 200 varieties of plants are grown in this area every year. The flowers were very vibrant in colors like red, yellow, blue, maroon, white, blue, and orange colors. Also in the area were very unique and impressive clipped hedges of Eastern arborvitae. It was a very cute location and would be perfect for a smaller more intimate wedding.
Just some information if you are looking at having a wedding here. The gardens do not supply tables or chairs so you will need to call a rental company for those. They do not allow outdoor tents to be set up, since putting up and removing those will only damage the lawn. They do not refund your money if it rains.
My girlfriend got lucky and everything worked out for her and the owners were so nice and helpful. She was able to have her photographer take wedding pictures wherever she wanted to in the gardens. And the price for usage of the garden was super reasonable. She only paid $550 for a Saturday wedding.
There are hotel facilities about 5 minutes away from the gardens so your guests don’t have far to travel if they need a place to stay. So if you are looking for a place to get married in the Janesville, Wisconsin area, I highly recommend checking out the Rotary Botanical Gardens.
