The Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 : My Dream Car

by itchyfish

Ever since I was a kid, I really loved cars. I remember when I was around 4-5 years old I can easily recognize cars on the streets. I can accurately tell their make, year and model. I’ve had so many favorite cars but I haven’t really conceptualized my life long dream car. I usually don’t go for the really expensive ones such as the Ferraris or McLarens. Then, when I was 23 years old, it was then that I got fixated on one sports/race car, the Nissan Skyline GT-R R34.

During that time, I was with my friends and we were really into cars. We even go to some local street racing events. Around that time as well, 2 Fast 2 Furious was shown in the theaters and if you really love cars, you’d most likely enjoy the movie as much as we did. Now, there are a lot of really good cars in the movie but the one that really caught my attention was the Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 that Paul Walker drove in the movie.

I also remembered playing Gran Turismo 2 on my Sony Playstation and it was among the cars that I liked. And when I saw the movie, I told myself that this is definitely my dream car. There are lots of expensive cars out there that are faster but I’m really drawn to the R34. The Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 has an RB26DETT engine with a 6-speed manual transmission. It is an all-wheel drive car and its body is coupe style (2-doors). It simply looks amazing.

About a year and a half ago, I watched this movie on Youtube about a Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 that was driven inside a tunnel in Japan. It went over 300 kilometers per hour. Oh well, that’s a tuned Skyline GT-R that’s why it was capable of going that fast. A stock Skyline GT-R would still be fast but it will be nowhere near that 1,200 horsepower GT-R.

Well, it may take a couple of years before I could possibly get one. Who knows? But there are no more brand new Skyline R34s for sale. All of them are already second hand. And since the car is quite old, in addition to its rarity here in the Philippines, it would most likely be hard to find a really good Skyline. So much for aftermarket parts specifically for the Skyline.

For now, my ideal car is a regular production car that could just take me from point A to point B without much trouble and of course, it has to be brand new. I’m actually setting my eyes on a Toyota Corolla Altis. I’m looking at least a year and a half before I can actually buy one. But if I can, I’d most certainly include a Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 in my garage.
