I was out and about with a few friends, and we watched the new Predators movie. I actually had to watch it twice before I got into it. Don’t ask me what made me go back to give it a second chance. I guess I recognized that I obviously just wasn’t in the mood for the movie the first time, because I found the second viewing rather thrilling. The first time I was bored to tears. I was sitting there yawning, and drifting off into space. Sounds bad doesn’t it?
However the second viewing I was actually paying attention. Because of which, I realized the action was fairly well done. I really enjoyed the character within the movie. I wasn’t certain when I first laid eyes on the movie what direction everything would play out. I knew that these people got dropped off on this far off planet which it definitely starts showing signs of that towards the middle of the movie with the showing of the planet having more than one moon and the rotating leaf in the water or whatever that was.
The characters come from different areas of earth. As all good stories, it shows you further into the movie why they were picked. Which we already know why they were picked if you are a “Predator” fan. If not, I suggest watching to find out. As expected these guys put up a heck of a fight. Instead of one guy fighting his hind quarters off like the rest of the movies of “Predator”, till the very end all on his own, I have to admit that I enjoyed watching a small group of armed people working together to try and find a way off of the rock they were forced to be on, and out of the mess they were in together despite their differences.
Some were more armed than others. I felt sorry for the idiot with the knife, but I also found myself wanting to watch him shot by someone in the group for acting like a jerk. I also found myself asking through out the entire movie and within my own mind, “what are these guys going to eat on an alien planet”….”how are they going to test if the food is safe to eat”….”which one gets to be the guinee pig or test dummy for the first meal”….”I hope the guinnee pig is that daggnabbed perv”. I have a twisted imagination I guess when it comes to movie thrillers. Plus I hate pervs, so obviously I’m routing for the worst case scenarios for them throughout the entire movies I watch. I am so sorry. I guess we all have our demons. The people we love to hate as I have heard them called….
The storyline was good and the surprise ending pissed me off. Maybe pissed is a strong word. I found it rather irritating, but it was surprisingly agreeable. In the end…I liked the ending. You shouldn’t be able to guess everything about a story. It takes the fun out of things, unless of course you hate absolutely not knowing every detail before it happens. I’m not going to tell you what it was though. Do they get off? Who will survive to see the end of the movie? Do they all die? You will have to watch to find out. Booowahahahaha. It wasn’t the best movie of the century for me, but I enjoyed it enough that if I had to sit through a third viewing to impress someone, I might take it under consideration.
