Make up junkie that I am there are not many products that hit the market that I don’t try, at least the ones within my price range. I also am fond of trying anything that swears it will take years off my skin. When you combine the two, well, it is almost a 100 percent guarantee that I will be trying it sooner or later, no matter what the price is.
The one product that is so popular now that I will not ever use again, however, is the mineral makeup line. It really doesn’t matter who makes it, I won’t be putting it on my face again. I sat glued to the television watching every spokes person for the different brands out there and it all looked so good when they applied it. Their makeovers are fabulous and the skin on the models just glowed.
I tried the Bare Minerals line first. No matter how much or how little I applied to my skin, I never seemed to get the coverage I wanted and every time I would sweat, I would get an annoying itch along with it. They claim that it is suitable for sensitive skin; it just must not be suitable for my sensitive skin. It also got into every little line on my face and made it show up worse than any other type of makeup I have ever tried. They also put you on an every three month auto ship list so I ended up with an abundance of the stuff. How much makeup do they think the normal, everyday woman wears? I was giving the stuff to my family and friends and they did not care for it, either.
The next mineral line I tried was Sheer Cover. They have an infomercial as well with celebrity spokes persons. Being the sucker that I am I thought I would try another brand. Perhaps I would have better success. As it turned out, I had the same problems with this line as I had with the first. Itching and the stuff just found my lines and pores like it was magnetized or something. It also did not last very long and required frequent touchups. The more touchups I had to apply, the more I itched. They had the auto ship program, too, and I think I still have jars of the stuff sitting unopened somewhere.
For me, mineral makeup does not cover as promised. It sits in every line on my face and made my pores appear twice as big as they are. It did not wear well at all and required frequent touch ups. My skin did not like it and I seemed to have a reaction to whatever kind of mineral they use to make it. No rash ever developed but the prickly itch made it uncomfortable for me to wear. The auto ship programs also disguise how expensive the stuff really is. If you add all those sneaky monthly debits from your account, you are paying about $90.00 for a three month supply of makeup that does not live up to its hype.
I won’t get suckered into purchasing or applying a mineral type makeup to my skin again.
