We’ve all had one and if you haven’t, you will. What am I talking about? Pimples. Pimples, better known as zits, are those pesky red bumps that flare up exactly when we don’t want them to… not that we ever actually WANT them to. There are several different reasons that zits pop up. Some of these reasons are fact, while others are just plain speculation.
Now most of us know that stress causes breakouts to happen simply because of the hormonal changes that occur during stressful situations. We’ve also heard that greasy foods can do it. This however, can only happen if you are actually rubbing your face with your greasy foods. I don’t know about you but I know I don’t go around rubbing my face with my French fries. So what does cause them? Keep reading to find the dirty little truth behind that ugly red bump.
Believe it or not, going to sleep with a lip treatment can cause your skin to break out, especially around the chin area. Your lip treatment may smear as you sleep leading to clogged pores, which causes bacteria to get trapped resulting in a morning blemish.
Another sleep habit that can contribute to waking up with new blemishes is going to sleep on a not so clean pillow case. If your pillow case is not exactly clean it will be harboring dead skin cells, bacteria, and other germs that result from night time perspiration and the occasional drooling that occurs during particularly heavy sleep. All of these dirty little things cause your skin to become clogged, again leading to morning breakouts.
Cell phones are a part of most everyone’s daily lives. We text on our phones, we check emails, we update our social sites, we carry them in our purses or pockets, and then we put them to our face to talk on them. After all that touching, it is no surprise that our phones are covered in germs. If you do not clean your phones often with an antibacterial wipe, your skin is bound to suffer. Keeping your phones clean will help to keep your face clean of pesky zits too.
Using dirty makeup brushes or sponges can also cause pimples. If your brushes are dirty they are full of dead skin cells and bacteria. You need to keep them clean if you don’t want to be brushing bacteria on to your face. If you aren’t sure how to wash your brushes read Washing your Makeup Brushes to find out how.
Finally, having skin that is too dry can cause breakouts. Pimples can be the result of your face’s attempt at re-hydrating itself. If your skin is too dry, oil production will naturally increase to resolve the problem. Simply use an oil free moisturizer like Olay Regenerest or Clinique Dramatically Different moisturizer after you have washed your face. If you have especially sensitive skin use a product like Eucerin or Cetaphil to keep your skin hydrated. Keeping your skin moisturized will help to prevent an over production of oil from happening, which in turn, keeps the pimple production at a minimum.
We all hate getting zits. When it comes down to it, prevention is the best solution to the problem. So remember, stay moisturized, keep anything that touches your face clean, try to relax a little, and don’t rub greasy food on your face to help stay pimple free.
