The CW Network has long been home to some of the most talked about shows- including ones like Gossip Girl, 90210, America’s Next Top Model, One Tree Hill, The Vampire Diaries, and much much more. Recently, the popular network introduced their new weeknight lineup starting in the fall 2010.
Starting at 8pm eastern time, new episodes of the hit series 90210 will air. 90210 is currently airing on Tuesday nights, but will move over to Monday nights starting in the fall. 90210 is currently in it’s third series, and follows a fictional group of teens (who are seniors in this season) at Beverly Hills High School and all the challenges, drama, and triumphs they face. The show features cast members such as Lori Loughlin (best known for her role as Becky in the sitcom Full House), Shenae Grimes (also known for her role as Darcy in Degrassi: The Next Generation), Annalynne McCord (also seen in Nip/Tuck), Jessica Stroup, Tristan Wilds, and much more. 90210 will air on Monday nights from 8pm-9pm eastern time starting in the fall. For more information, visit the CW’s website.
Following 90210 on Monday nights, from 9pm-10pm (eastern time) all new episodes of another hit series, Gossip Girl, will be airing. Gossip Girls currently airs in the same time slot, so expect no change in the fall. Gossip Girl is currently in it’s fourth season, and follows a group of Manhattans “elite teenagers” as they experience dating, family and friend drama, romances, and much more. Gossip Girl features cast members such as Blake Lively, Chance Crawford, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Taylor Momsen and many more. Seeing as how the third season of Gossip Girl ended with a major bang, I see this season doing just as well, if not better. For more information on Gossip Girl, visit the CW’s website.
Kicking off the CW’s Tuesday night lineup is the popular series One Tree Hill. One Tree Hill is getting ready to enter it’s 8th season, making it one of the longest running CW shows, and for a good reason. The show is sure to be a hit again this year. One Tree Hill is about a group of twenty-something young adults and the triumphs and challenges they face in life. It’s similar to many of the other CW shows, but the acting is definitely more top-notch (seeing as how it’s been around longer) and the plot line is really one you can dive into. One Tree Hill features cast members like Sophia Bush, James Lafferty, and Antwon Tanner. One Tree Hill will air on Tuesdays from 8pm-9pm eastern time starting in the fall. For more information on One Tree Hill, visit the CW’s website.
Following One Tree Hill on Tuesdays nights will be Life Unexpected. Life Unexpected is a relatively new show (now in it’s second season) about 16 year old Lux who was given up for adoption at birth, but never ended up getting adopted. Instead, she is put back into the custody of her estranged birth parents and faces a series of challenges. Life Unexpected is a great show, but doesn’t have a very unique plot, so I don’t know how much longer it’ll stick around. The show stars cast members Shiri Appleby (also seen on ER), Britt Robertson, Austin Basis (also seen on Ghostfacers), and many more. Life Unexpected will air on Tuesday nights from 9pm-10pm eastern time starting in the fall. For more information on Life Unexpected, visit the CW’s website.
The ever so popular reality show, America’s Next Top Model, will return for it’s 15th cycle (or, season) this fall starting at 8pm (eastern time). America’s Next Top Model is a reality based modeling competition produced and ran by famous model Tyra Banks. The show features 13 modeling hopefuls at the start of each season as they fight to become America’s Next Top Model (winning prizes such as a modeling contract, $100,000 and more). Each week is a different photoshoot challenge and an additional challenge (runway, interview, etc) which keeps it fresh and interesting. With the show in it’s now 15th season, they are still finding ways to introduce new ways to keep in fun to watch. America’s Next Top Model features judges such as Tyra Banks, Andre Leon Talley, Miss J. Alexander, Nigel Barker, and different celebrity guest judges each week. America’s Next Top Model will air on Wednesday nights from 8pm-9pm (eastern time) in the fall. For more information, visit the CW’s website.
Following America’s Next Top Model will be the launch of the new CW show, Hellcats. Hellcats is about Marti Perkins, a pre-law student at Lancer University who appears to have the perfect life until she loses her scholarship and her world turns upside down. The only way she can remain in the university is to take up athletics. So, she gains a spot on the university’s gymnastics team. The show seems to be full of that teenage drama, cliques, and romances..but should be pretty interesting to watch nonetheless. Hellcats also features the same executive producer as on Desperate Housewives. Staring in this new show will be stars such as Ashley Tisdale (also seen in many Disney channel shows/movies such as High School Musical), Matt Barr (also seen on Harpers Island), Aly Michalka (also seen on the Disney Channel show Phil of the Future) and many more. Hellcats will air Wednesday nights from 9pm-10pm (eastern time) in the fall. For more information, visit the CW’s website.
Kicking off the Thursday night lineup will be the return of The Vampire Diaries. The Vampire Diaries will be entering it’s second season this fall as it follows the story of two teenage brother vampires obsessed with the same girl as they battle to control the fate of their town. Considering how popular the vampire theme has become lately, I see this show continuing to do well in the fall. The Vampire Diaries features cast members such as Nina Dobrev (also seen on Degrassi: The Next Generation), Ian Somerhalder (also seen on Lost), Steven R. McQueen and Paul Wesley. The Vampire Diaries will air Thursday night from 8pm-9pm (eastern time) in the fall. For more information visit the CW’s website.
Next up on Thursdays is the second of the new CW shows for the fall-Nikita. Nikita is a reworking of the popular Le Femme Nikita series and is about a young girl, Nikita, who is rescued after being on death row (and a fake execution) by a U.S. agency. After three years in hiding by the secret U.S. agency (known only as The Division), Nikita reemerges from hiding to face her past. The drama definitely has a unique concept, and is much different than other CW shows this fall, so I expect it to do well, especially with the older audience of the network. Nikita features stars such as Maggie Q, Lyndsy Fonseca (also seen on How I Met Your Mother), Aaron Stanford and Shane West (also seen in ER and A Walk to Remember). Nikita will air on Thursday nights from 9pm-10pm starting in the fall. For more information, visit the CW’s website.
Kicking off the CW’s Friday night schedule will be the popular show Smallville. Smallville, now entering its 10th season, the show continues where it left off following superhero Clark and his explosive life from developing romances to trying to save the world. Smallville features stars such as Tom Welling, Erica Durance, Allison Mack and Justin Hartley. Smallville will air on Friday nights from 8pm-9pm eastern time starting in the fall. For more information, visit the CW’s website.
Finally, finishing up the weeks schedule is Supernatural. Supernatural is returning for it’s sixth season this fall. Supernatural is a suspenseful series following two brothers, Sam and Dean Winchester, as they face challenges such as the Devil, the Apocalypse, and much more. Season six has promised to be full of mystery, suspense, and even more horror sequences than the past five seasons. Supernatural features cast members such as Jared Padalecki (also seen on Gilmore Girls) and Jensen Ackles. Supernatural will air on Friday nights from 9pm-10pm this fall. For more information visit the CW’s website.
