Waterfalls are some of the most spectacular forms of natural beauty that can be observed in our world. The raw power, sound, and view of the water falling off a cliff hundreds of feet above can be breathtaking. There are around 9 million waterfalls all around the world ranging from wide to narrow and small to large. Big waterfalls can be some of the most amazing sites to behold. This article will focus on some of the biggest waterfalls that exist in the world.
Waterfall 1: Angle Falls, Kerepakupai Meru
This waterfall is one of the most breathtaking of them all, and is the tallest waterfall in the world. The waterfall is located in the South American country of Venezula. Angle Falls consists of 2 different drops the biggest of which is 2648 feet. All together the 2 drop offs have a total height of 3212 feet which is over half a mile. This waterfall is also one of the most impressive waterfalls to see as it also has the third largest magnitude of water out of all the waterfalls in the world. The falls are named after the pilot Jimmy Angel, who was the first westerner to discover them.
Waterfall 2: Tugela Falls
The Tugela falls are located in South Africa in the Royal Natal National Park. They are actually a series of 5 different waterfalls all located on the Tugela river. All together the total heights of the waterfalls add up to 3110 feet. It is said the water at the top of the falls is so pure that you can drink it.
Waterfall 3: Browne Falls
This waterfall is located in New Zealand in the Fiordlands National Park and is the tallest waterfall in New Zealand. The waterfall consist of 6 different waterfalls that total a height of 2744 feet. The waterfall twists and turns as it cascades down a steep mountain into the Doubtful Sound.
Waterfall 4: Strupenfossen
The Strupenfossen waterfall is located in Norway in Myklebust. Although this waterfalls height is listed differently depending on what map you look at, it is generally accepted that the 7 different waterfalls that make up Strupenfossen total a height of at least 2600 feet.
Waterfall 5: Ramnefjellsfossen
This waterfall is also located in Norway and in the region of Stryn. The waterfall consist of 3 different drops which total a height of 2685 feet. The tallest drop is from a height of 1968 feet. In conjunction with being one of the largest waterfalls, this waterfall is also very beautiful to behold and is thought to be one of the best waterfalls to visit in the world.
