One thing that we all want is to find that special someone. And when we do, finding the right place to spend those romantic evenings can mean the difference between an average date and a truly memorable one. Here in the Greater Houston area we have a lot of options available for romantic dining but for now I’d like to focus on the ones right here in Sugarland.
3. Fernando’s Latin Cuisine: If your idea of a romantic encounter is dinner and dancing then look no further than Fernando’s. Dining at Fernando’s is something like taking a trip across both continents as well as time. The restaurant holds the same type of charm and character that one would associate with dining at a South American villa in the 1950’s. Live music (available on the weekends) only adds to the experience of being in a continental dinner club. Fernando’s offers such South American specialties as churrasco-style beef with Plantains, carne-asada steak basted in a garlicky chimichurri sauce and Tropical grilled chicken breast, topped with coconut milk and cilantro. You should also seriously consider any of the seafood dishes here as I have personally loved every one of them that I have tried to date. Fernando’s is located at 14135 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land, (281-494-9087) and while walk-ins are welcome I seriously suggest making reservations (especially for a table on the weekend).
2. Amici Ristorante : If you look right in the heart of Sugarland Town Square you will find Amici Ristorante which is exactly where you want to go if you love excellent Italian cuisine in a cozy environment. I personally suggest dining on the patio for a wonderfully European dinner experience for two. Entrée selections to try include the chicken with mushrooms and proscuitto, the veal scallopini with shrimp, artichoke hearts, and peas, the seafood linguini, and the grilled snapper with spinach. After dinner there are excellent dessert option available such as; the chocolate mezzaluna mousse and cake, the blackberry crostata, and the panna cotta however due to the generous portions you may wish to simply order one to share with your special someone. Amici Ristorante is located at 16089 City Walk, Town Square (281-242-2800) and reservations are a very good idea.
1. Karl’s at the Riverbend : Romantic Dining in the country at a converted ranch house with an enclosed porch, a view overlooking a creek and a horse farm. With a description like that you know that Karl’s has definitely has the romantic atmosphere going for it. The wait staff is marvelous and the food offerings, from seafood to wild game are superb and be certain to ask for the Apple Strudel for desert as it is honestly worth the trip just for that alone. If you are looking for a place for the perfect romantic dinner experience, far away from the noise of the city then frankly there is simply no better choice in our area.Karl’s is located at 5011 FM 723 Rd (281-238-9300), and open for dinner Tuesday-Sat. with Brunch on Sundays. Reservations are not required but are definitely recommended.
