They say laughter is the best medicine. If you want to do something different for a night out with friends, family, visitors or a date why not check out a comedy club? This is a great form of live entertainment that is guaranteed to be a lot of fun. I’ve been to many comedy clubs in Chicago and here locally. I’ve always had a lot of laughs, because the atmosphere is completely infectious. No doubt one of the featured stand-up comics will be sure to tickle your funny bone too. Luckily there are three of the best comedy clubs in the Tampa Bay area for you to choose from. Find out what they have to offer with specials, coming attractions, show times, and other pertinent information. If you love watching comedians on the late night talk show circuit, HBO specials, Comedy Central, and other media venues then you are going to love seeing them live at a comedy club near you in Tampa Bay.
1.) Coconuts Comedy Club – Pinellas & Pasco Counties, Florida
They are Florida’s longest running comedy clubs. You’ll find nationally seen comics from television headlining at Coconuts. Thursday nights are Open Mic Night. I highly recommend you attend one of these unique shows. You never know what is in store. Some of the acts are good while others do make an effort. Their showtime is at 9PM with a cover of $5. Smoking is permitted and Hookahs (Eastern smoking pipe) are available. Beer, wine, and soft drinks are served. There are three locations in Pinellas and Pasco: The Safety Harbor Resort and Spa in Safety Harbor, Shephard’s in Clearwater Beach and The Caliente Resort in Land O” Lakes. For the headline acts its best to make reservations online where you’ll receive a $3 discount with ticket prices only at $12.

There is another late night venue attached to the Improv called Backstage @ the Improv that features exclusively local talent in original music and the Arts. The Backstage hours are: Mondays – Tuesdays 10AM to 5PM, Wednesdays – Fridays 10AM to 3AM, Saturdays – Sundays 11AM to 3AM. Open Mic at the Tampa Improv is on Wednesday nights at 10PM. It is highly recommended to make reservations in advance for one of their shows, which oftentimes sell out. Ticket prices vary according to the act. Also, no cancellations or refunds are given for purchases online. I’ve been to the Improv in LA and had an excellent time there. You’ll no doubt have a great time at the Improv in Ybor.
