ABC’s “The Bachelor” Season 14 star Jake Pavelka and his fiance Vienna Girardi broke up over the weekend, and fans want to know why. Jake and Vienna had been very vocal in the early days of their union, talking about their wedding plans and future babies. And they didn’t miss a beat when Jake landed on ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars.” (The two even danced together on the show’s finale). But now, fans want to know: Why did Jake and Vienna break up?
According to TMZ, Girardi’s stepmom confirmed that Vienna moved out of Jake’s house last weekend and left behind the $50,000 Neil Lane diamond ring he gave her. While some gossip sites have Vienna cheating on Jake, others blame Jake’s hunger for fame as the source of the couple’s problems.
Of course, many “Bachelor” fans aren’t a bit surprised by the split. They seemed like an odd couple to begin with. And while no reason was given for the couple’s break up by their rep, Jake did get caught on video by TMZ and confirmed, “We’re split.” When asked what happened he just replied, “It’s a long story.” Aw come on, Jake, we have time to listen!
Pavelka also added that he’s “just saddened by the whole thing,” and that “sometimes love isn’t enough in a relationship.”
When asked about reports that Vienna hinted that he was more interested in fame than in the relationship, Pavelka refused to comment. He did say that no matter what happens, he and Vienna will always be friends.
Indeed, in the span of a year Pavelka has carved out a nice little television career for himself. First he was a contestant on “The Bachelorette” Season 5, where he actually returned to the show after “Bachelorette” Jillian Harris gave him the boot. (He famously came back to “warn” her that one of the other guys had a girlfriend.) Next it was a starring spot on “The Bachelor 14: On the Wings of Love,” then on to “Dancing With the Stars.” Now he’s landed a guest spot on the Lifetime show “Drop Dead Diva.”
Meanwhile, People Magazine reports that Vienna is still in shock over the break up and, contrary to what Jakey says, the split was not friendly. At the same time, video of Vienna partying it up with pal Gregory Michael has surfaced and she sure doesn’t look like a scorned woman to me.
Today the once-happy couple’s Twitter pages are very telling. Jake’s Twitter page has no trace of Vienna. Instead, it features pics of him and his “Dancing With the Stars” partner, Chelsie Hightower. And, as of this writing, Jake hasn’t tweeted regarding the break up at all (unlike broken-hearted Jessie Csincsak, who gave fans a teary-eyed video explanation after he and “Bachelorette“ DeAnna Pappas called it quits).
But Vienna’s Twitter page still has the lovey-dovey photos of her and Jake. There’s also a tweet from earlier today: “The accusations of me cheating are completely fabricated. 100% false.”
Fame hungry? Cheating? Somehow I see another US Magazine cover story coming out of this. And eventually all the details on Jake and Vienna’s break up will come spilling out.
